looks like I'm going in for a trim... Only 1/2-1" off at the bottom. Figured that I should try to even things up a little, so as I go on my job search, people are more likely to notice that I keep my hair in good shape, instead of just letting it grow. Although, for growing hair out in the quickest amount of time, there's nothing like just letting it grow.

If you just want long hair and don't care what the heck it looks like, then don't trim. It will probably look like heck.
But if you want nice long hair, then trims (at least every 2-3 months) are a must. I'm sorry, but some of the pics posted on this board just don't look good. It's what gives longhaired men the stereotype and it doesn't help the cause.
(I prefer long hair on women, but not if it's nasty looking).
Can anything be as nasty looking as buzzed? I think not! But this is my opinion. This is possibly why I disagree with yours.
Is it me or has anyone else noted that for the most part, those that are negative or trim crazy rarely post their email with their remarks?

Same here.
Yes, I have noticed that. I'm only doing it to appease my mother and sister, which is unfortunate. But, anyway, I'm not trimming much. Just enough to make things look a bit more similar in length. I will still wear a ponytail, just will look slightly cleaner in appearance.

i agree with mick...trims are a good thing. i would get mine trimmed even less...more like once every 3-4 months...which produced a good amount of growth, but kept it looking good.
