Hey guys,
I have been following this board for quite some time now, but haven't quite had chance to step up!
I'm female. I've had longish hair most of my life.Always tried to grow it longer as a child, but my mother would always say it needed 'trimming' leading hairdressers to cut far more off than the half inch I'd asked for. Needless to say, it never really grew.
Now, upon moving away and being able to decide what to do with my own hair, I started attempting my project again. I wanted burst length hair. I trimmed it myself, however a little too often. I eventually got to my goal. Then i went through a phase of depression where i wasn't really looking after myself or my hair, and ended up having to cut about 8 inches off to make it look somewhat decent. My project starts again.
This time round, I have ignored all the female long hair sites, due to finding this board. One of the best pieces of advice I've seen from here is *only* trim the *split* ends. Leave the rest of your hair alone. And that's what I've done. I'm about 2 inches off my navel right now after 2 and a half years off growing from just below shoulders.
I have been a supporter of long haired men for a long while, and my partner is one, and think that the discrimination towards them is just rediclous. I have a friend who wanted to join the TA, and literally, unless it's an emergency, it's part time army training.. and he was told he had to cut his hair. yet his female collegues could keep theirs. *sigh*
Anyway, enough wabbling. I will post a photo of my hair at some point :)

Welcome, and glad you decided to post. Just curious, you wrote: "This time round, I have ignored all the female long hair sites, due to finding this board." Do the female-oriented long-hair sites recommend a lot of trimming and/or styling?
Chris
Yes, they often recommand 1/2 inch every 6 weeks! That means per month you're growth would be very little considering hair only grows at rouhgly 1/2 a month
Hi Aamie,
I personally find long hair on women very attractive, in fact because my wife is growing her hair out to keep it longer than mine, I really am looking forward to her having hair past the mid of her back!
Long hair is beautiful, it is a shame that men are expected to keep their hair short. It really shows that it is rather an excuse to keep men in conformity when women are allowed to have long hair and men are not in active professions.
I've wondered what would happen if women were made to buzz their hair like their male coworkers. I bet that a LOT of them would change their minds on whether or not it should be accepted for men to grow their hair out.
Anyways I'm very glad that you are a supporter of long hair for men, I find women with long hair who want men to keep their hair short hypocritical. I've actually found a blog of a woman with hair to her butt complaining about a man applying for a job at her place (she was, I assume, the interviewer) with his hair in a pony tail to mid back.
I read that artical as well actually, and at the end of it she shows a picture of her brother who has the same length as she (About knee length) and she has a poll as to whether he should cut his hair!!!
Anywhoooo, Nice to meet you
-Yep, and the funny thing is, her brother's hair happens to be a little shinier and healthier looking in my humble opinion.
Have any of you still got a link? I would love to see :)
It took a little bit, but I found it:
http://hubpages.com/hub/Long-hair-on-Men
its so obvious now, ALL RELIGIOUS FIGURES WERE TRANSVESTITES :)
did anybody else notice that she completely destroyed her own arguments in the last paragraph
also i really like the results of those polls, bet shes mad as hell :D
Yeah, I noticed that last paragragh also. I couldn't help but to see that radical controlling feminisim is still amoung us. Uhg, and the sex war continues.
It is great to see the polls slanted so heavily toward long haired men. WooHoo.
Daniel
Wow, what an intolerant lady. Her brothers' hair is just gorgeous. I added my votes to the polls, was pleased to see that the majority were in favor of her brother having long hair, and men having long hair in general. I suspect that was not the input she wanted. Her brother obviously takes care of his hair. Her hypocracy just amazes me!
Oh man, that is so hypocritcal it's not even funny.. why should she be allowed it and not him? It's just the same for a man in terms of his image, and I know many men who keep their hair in better condition than many females.
Nice to meet you. I love it when girls grow their hair out really long. The longer the better and I know a lot of girls who like their hair as long as it could possibly be and like their guys hair very long as well. I plan on growing mine to at least mid back and maybe longer :) Any advice for growing it and whats your goal length?
My goal length is really terminal :) I want to see how far I can push it.
Advice, trim only the split ends.. if you really feel the need to even it up (although it should stay even after a few years of doing this) literally take off 1/4 of an inch and that should sort it, and no more than once a year!
Also, conditioner! I also apply olive oil to the ends if they are drying. Good luck!
Thanks I appreciate it. Terminal length is great too im looking forward to seeing pictures.
How about not having a trim and keeping it growing. So pwease can we see a pic?
No we can't see a pic! Then the goats would know what we looked like and avoid the bridge.
Welcome aboard Aamie! Like the other members here, I love long hair on women. I never understood either why some sites would say you need to trim a few inches off every month if your trying to grow your hair long, kinda contradicts the whole purpose IMO. I'm in the awkward stage right now about 7 months into it. Got aways to go yet. -Mike-
Female supporters are always welcome. Have you been to LHC? It is devoted to long hair, most members are women, but they have quite a few men as well. Some of the members here at MLHH are also members at LHC. I put a link below for you to check out. Welcome to MLHH. Pics of you and your guys' hair are also appreciated.
