Although I think that white corn is a good vegetable, that isn't what I'm talking about.
A while back in a discussion about cornrows someone made the comment about wanting to try cornrows but wasn't sure about it as he was white. (if I remember correctly) What I wanted to relay is that today when I was sitting at a loading dock in eastern Pennsylvania during lunch hour a noticed that a few of the dock workers had long hair, but I noticed a couple of white guys that had cornrows. I wasn't very close to them so I couldn't tell just how tight they were, but anyway even in the cornrows one of the guys hair still fell down to midback, I couldn't tell about the other guy cause he never took of his freezer coat (the building they work in is kept below freezing) and the ends of his hair was under his coat. Even though these guys were white, the cornrows still looked good from a distance. So whoever that was that was thinking about them I say go ahead with them, just make sure sure the rows are done loosely so not to cause damage.

But stay out of the extreeme heat, we wouldn't want the corn to "pop"....yeah I know, such a corny joke.
For me personally, I agree. although it has been awhile since I've ate any white corn. I guess maybe I should I'm starting to get hungry just typing about it.

Thanks for the input. I am definately considering getting them done here in a few weeks. I will tell they lady doing them not to braid it too tight. I hope it turns out great
That's awesome do let us know how they turned out, maybe post a pic so we could see.

I know these two guys looked great with them, as if white guys with cornrows is the most natural thing. I had figured that a white guy would look just as good in cornrows as any other race, but having seen it for myself I am certain of it now.
When you get them done, do post a pic.

Hi,
I think it was me who made that comment (well I said something similar anyway). It wasn't really a case of thinking they might not look good or they might damage my hair, but mainly (1) it would cost a fair bit and I can't really afford it right now, and mauinly (2) There would probably just be too much hassle to go with it, it's probably not worth it.
I'm all for being individual, doing what you want with your appearance etc regardless of what others think, but I just think I would get too many stupid comments/looks where I like right now. I might consider it if I move to a big city, but where I am it's kinda rare enough seeing a black person let alone a white person with cornrows. (OK I'm exaggerating, but I hope you get what I mean. It's not that people are racist, far from it, just I wouldn't like the attention really)

I'm not one to give a rat's behind what other people think, and I really don't care if they don't like something about me (or my hair) Unless somebody says something good about my hair I just don't listen. It's just not worth my time to wonder what anybody else thinks about any paticular way of putting up your hair. I understand not doing it for the cost and hassle. But if you want it and all that's holding you back is what somebody 'might' think or what they 'might' say, then all you've done is allow yourself to be a slave to what you think would be their thoughts.
Daniel
Nicely put Daniel.

I just remember all the fuss over here when David Beckham wore his hair in corn rows for a while. I couldn't believe how heated it got. He was called a racist for "stealing" black people's hairstyles!
I'm sorry, but how can a hairstyle be racist unless you've got a Swastika or some other political/racist symbol clippered or dyed into it? It was obviously a slow news week.
