Hey, summer's coming up and i'm in Texas so it get's REALLY hot and there's always sun over here. I'm thinking of getting some new sunglasses, I'm not sure what would look good on me. I have no way of getting a pic online but I can describe myself a bit. First off I'm still in the awkward stage, I have black/wavy hair, and I am hispanic so my skin tone is neither too dark or too light, it's in the middle. I've been thinking of eithr getting some sunglasses by Oakley (www.oakley.com i think) such as the "Penny" or the "Scar" glasses which I think look pretty cool. The other ones I was thinking of were round lenses with wire frames (i think they are the John Lennon ones, I've also seen Ozzy Osbourne wearing this kind of sunglasses alot) the thing is I have no clue who makes these or where I could get them, anyone know? As far as colors go, no matter which ones I get I will most likely get a blue lens and if it's the oakley's a silver or dark grey frame. So which do you think look better on long haired people?
I spent a long LONG time looking for the Lennon/Osbourne style and failed miserably. They just dont seem to exist.
maybe it just depends on where you live/the store you look in, but i've never had much problem finding those. You may not have much luck finding those sorts of glasses put out by major-name companies (guess they're not "in style" at the moment *shrug*) but i know the dollar store usually has several different colors/styles of the Ozzy/Lennon glasses that look pretty decent. Personally, i always buy cheap sunglasses anyway - not only does it seem silly to pay fifteen or twenty dollars (or sometimes a lot more) for sunglasses, but they usually just get lost or broken anyway.
if you are in the sun, get good sunglasses to protect your eyes, cheap ones don't usually do that, when you are 60 and free of glaucoma you will be glad you did. I prefer an oval wire frame to round, check out the oakley earwires. Just try a few pair on til you find the ones you think look best, maybe take a friend with you. Sport stores would be a good place to start. Malls usually have a sunglass place in the center of the mall. Once you know the style and design, you may be able to find them online cheaper.
Oakleys have always been my favorite but I am tired of them getting stolen or breaking. They are the best style and grade though.
I am a big fan of polarize Bolle. I got the Chromium which I love. Check out this awesome website. www.eyesave.com namebrand cheap. Although they don't carry Oakley, which suck in my opinion. They always break! The are just a fashion statement. I have a pair and I turned them into my lawn mowing glasses. I love the Bolle though. Be prepared to spend for a decent pair.
You'll definitely want polorized lenses that protect your eyes on the sides and top. The John Lennon style won't do that. Problem is, the diminished light coming in from the front prompts the pupil to open wider, and inadvertently allows more UV light in from the sides/top. Over a period of time, your eyeballs get screwed up. So . . . first consideration should be practicality--get big, protective lenses, then look for whatever style tickles your fancy.

Are you sure that this is a longhair question? What you need is a mirror. What style or brand is up to you...how you like it, how it fits your face and how much you can afford. They don't design eyewear to go with long hair (or not). The lennon/ozzy type are usually found in drug stores for about $6 (total pieces of crap...won't help with the Texas sun). Oakley's are stupid expensive.
The futility of asking people you don't know what they recommend for you choosing between polar opposites of styles in regards to your hair of which you don't even have a picture is just amazing.
Thanks for the replies. And to Hair Religion, get a grip man! I'm just asking for some opinions, no need to snap at me. You act like i'm doing something illegal or hurting someone by asking a simple question.
Don't think of it as a snap, just trying to get you to think about it. Can you get a really good opinion this way?
I have a pretty good grip, maybe your skin is too thin.
I realize I didn't post a picture that's why at the end I asked for sunglasses that look good on longhaired people, not just myself. I'm just trying to get various opinions, it's not like I'm going to go out and buy the first pair of glasses someone mentions. This will be my last reply to you as I don't wish to start some big argument. Have a nice day.
You have a nice day too.
I still think that you will have more success by using a mirror and trying on different sunglasses yourself. Go to the mall and ask someone who deals with sunglasses all day long what might look good. They have sunglasses, mirrors and a professional opinion right there where someone can look at your face and evaluate the fit.
There are certain sunglasses that I like on others but cannot ever wear because they do not fit the shape of my ugly kisser.
Pretty much any sunglasses look better with long hair.
(I hope you don't look at everyone's responses as accusing you of doing something illegal or hurting someone. If we were on a different type of board I could attach smily faces that might soften the starkness of my typed words.) Don't forget my tip on drugstores.
