Hi Hairy People,
Well, my hair growth anniversary just flew by last month: I can now say that I have OVER 9 YEARS of GROWTH on my head!!!
The date that I last cut my hair short is an easy one for me to remember: June 21st, 2000 (the first day of summer, Y2K). I had never "planned" it that way, --- it just happened... (A long, boring story not worth narrating here or now - LOL)
This pic was actually taken back in May, the photographer being my partner, Even. I don't remember the exact date in May; but, it was the same day that we went down the coast with Bill & Larry to Duarte's Tavern's restaurant in the little town of Pescadero (about 45 minutes South of SF).
My apologies for not putting my hands more clearly on my hips, as I am NOT actually peeing in this shot (LOL)!! Also, in spite of the wind blowing my mane in such a way as to m,ake it look an inch or 2 shorter, the ends of my hair in real life really do touch my belt ("yeah, right, --- sure, Ken, sure, wishful thinking, huh?" - LOL)....
A couple more pics will follow... Thanks in advance to any and all who reply!!
- Ken in San Francisco
It was a rare phenomena at the beach that day, a whole new kind of gravity (lol)!!
OK, let me try another pic.... I hope I can get this one right!

I forgot to mention that it was VERY cold & foggy that day, --- I couldn't wait to get my hooded sweatshirt back on! One of the "charms" of living in Northern California near the coast is that the cold ocean current coming down from Alaska keeps San Francisco and nearby vacinity naturally "air-conditioned", --- that's why you see the tourists huddled together shivering while waiting for a cble car in July!
In any case, here's a front view of my hair. I'm in complete denial of it turning white, just as much as I'm in complete denial of the fact that I'm no longer 23... I'm in my late, late, VERY LATE 20s now, I think (can't remember, though, due to early senility)....
Apologies in advance that I'll be unable to respond to anybody's replies until sometime Sunday, due to being away from my computer over the next 3 days; BUT, I will eventually thank each person, personally!
Hasta Luego,
Ken
Grrrrrreat pictures Ken!
If anyone is complaining about "cold" send 'em my way . It's 100+ F (38+ C) here.
Have a great time away from the computer for the next 3 days!
- Oren
Thanks, Oren, --- and great to hear from you!!!!
I haven't left yet; but, will be departing for work shortly (just had to check the hyperboard one more time before walking out the door - LOL)....
Keep that amazing beard & hair of yours growin' & flowin'!!!
- Ken
Ken,
Awesome Pictures! It is always great to see the progress of all the members here. A true inspiration for all of us!
Keep it growing and have a great 4th.
VJ
Thanks, VJ, --- and I'll be busy BBQing at my cooking job on the 4th; so, come on over and have a burger or chicken-apple sausage w/ roasted veggies if you're in the neighborhood (lol)!!

Great pics. I've been following your posts for a couple of years now and I actually didn't know your hair was that long.
And this is just my opinion and no offense intended to anyone else, but I think white hair looks best when its basically all white. Yours fits the bill and looks great.
Chris
Hi Ken,
This is my favourite of all the hair photos that you put up. I like the contrast in hair colour from the topside (Santa Claus White) to the blonde-brown growth underneath. I'm the opposite, I have white grey hair underneath and medium brown on the top which covers over it.
For fun would you take a photo of yourself with next to the bay with the red bridge in the background and YEAH with some FLOWERS in your hair!
Your hair is looking great as usual.
Duncan
Hi Ken,
WOW! Cool, some fresh pics of your fantastic mane:)Congratulations on almost a complete decade of longhairedom my friend.Certainly this board has been different with you not posting as much so we'll take what we can get.I know what you mean about the weather that day as I left HMB on May 10th to return to NJ and that whole week was rainy and chilly.Wish I could have met with you guys but as you know my visit out west wasn't a normal one.I plan to return this fall so hopefully we can meet....finally!Last week I did have the distinct please of meeting David N. on his return trip home from PA.for the first time.Anyway keep it up with the hair and don't worry about a little white settling in as it gives you character.Keep the faith:)
Mark
Hi Ken. Since you had been growing out your hair for almost a decade, I assume you have reached terminal. I love the waves in your hair. As for weather, it had been sunny and warm every single day in Seattle lately although there is a slight nip in the early morning.
Matthew
Hi Ken:
None of us stay 23 for long, but regardless, you're still looking great. I've always been envious, in a good way, of your blond locks. Nine years is certainly an accomplishment. I passed my third anniversary with no hair cuts back in May and was very proud to have done so. I hope all is well with you on the left coast. I think I'd really like that chilly summer weather out there. It must be nice not to break out in a sweat as soon as you go outside.
All the best, Matt B.
It is always great to hear from the "Cowboy" and with a fantastic update "to boot"......Congratulations on 9 years !! You are looking fit and trim and your hair is fantastic. Great length and I love the colour with natural highlights.
I am curious, it is still growing in length at the nine year mark or is that terminal??
Thanks for Sharing, Ken
Walter
Looking great Ken. I just pull tested my hair a couple of days ago and it reaches down to about 1 inch above my belt. All I need to do is keep my chin up so that I can get that little extra length. (hehe, maybe that's cheating. But hey, whatever it takes.)Hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Daniel
...can be a VERY GOOD thing if you know how to handle it. It can be a sort of mind-over-matter thing. FWIW, I've had people react with something close to shock when I told them how old I was (which means it's working!). ;-) I mean, I just kept telling myself I was gonna keep looking like this, and it worked (well, except for that extra one or two stone...). Sometimes I think a lot of what we call "aging" is a matter of people psyching themselves out, so from where I sit it looks like you're doing the right thing!
(You know, they say Franklin D. Roosevelt never gave up hope that he'd walk again. He may not have gotten his wish, but look what he did do...)

You have a mane to be proud of Ken! Its mix of colors and length are very impressive. I'm thinking more and more of going for terminal myself. I really hope mine reaches my belt like yours.
All of your pictures were great but this one is my favorite. THe sunny weather looks great on you, even if it is cold, it looks fantastic there. Brilliant color and white in your hair makes a great combination.
Congratulations on such long term dedication to long hair and being yourself :) It's always great to see an Urban Cowboy post here for inspiration and humoration LOL!
Take care Ken
Hi Ken,
What a pleasant surprise to see you posting again, and thank you for sharing your latest pictures of your mane with us. It is good to know that it is still growing!
Your foggy weather sounds so much like what we have been getting in Nova Scotia lately, although we also have some rain thrown in for good measure, and the tempearture is probably a little warmer here as well. I promise, that one day, I WILL get to the west coast of the USA, even though this year is out of the question for now.
Take care,
David
Hi Ken, your hair is looking great and your looking great too! quite an inspiration! Hope your doing well and congrats on your 9 years of great hair growth! Later Steve
Hi Ken, Your hair is simply gorgeous.------- Just saw Bill and Larry a few days ago and your name came up in conversation. All good of course. Hi to Even and hope to meet you the next time we are out the San Francisco way.
peace, jonalbear
I can see that your hair looks gorgeous. It was certainly worth the wait to get such a glorious mane, Ken.
In the future, if you need an image rotated, just ask. I can easily do it for you.
Long hair forever.
Scott
Scott you made Ken straight??? How on earth did you manage that?
Frankly we like him better the old way....LOL
Great hair update Ken and happy birthday in advance in case I
forget as we do when we age.
Kevin

ROFLMAO! Is that possible? I don't think his partner would like that too much if it was possible. I agree, Ken is alright just as he is.
Scott
Hi Ken,
Hope you are both doing well.
Great update pictures and nothing like being a few degrees off life that's for sure!
Cheers,
John.B
Ken,
Your hair is so cool. I love it. When my hair turns white (or gray), I hope it is as beautiful as yours. I wouldn't change a thing.
