It's good to be posting in this board again,I missed you guys ^^.I'll try to make this as brief as possible, just so you can be sparred from reading giant posts that look like bible passages XD.News are,I won't have to serve the army(yay),so this gives me a chance of growing my crazy looking hair out again - for the third time(record was 1 1/2 years) -.-.It's been around 4 months (I think) from a ridiculous, retarded looking shaggy bowl cut.Keep ya awesome, steaming, gleaming, flaxing and waxing heads of hair growing strong by all means.Tips for awkwarders:patience, and get rid of any mirrors in yer houses XD.
Nice to see there are some new faces here.
Take care,yall!(especially of yer manes)
And...I'll be checking in from times to times.
Bye(Vivien's style) XD
Hi Rafael,
Hey,glad to see you back and don't ever worry about the length of your posts. At least you get to the point and don't tell a novel.LOL.I'm happy to hear you are avoiding the military but its a shame you had to cut your hair just in case in the first place.Looks really great so far after only four months!I don't know how you do it as even in an awkward stage it looks fantastic my friend:)Anyway keep us posted and hopefully you get to keep your hair forever this time:)Cheers buddy.
Mark
Thanks,Mark,it's always nice to hear from ya!I know, now I understand the mistake I commited(big time),but I'm doing my bet to keep my head of hair intact, and will struggle to keep it this way,as it grows.I'm most likely having many other problems regarding long hair,as Brazil is a very discriminative country(in many ways),and companies and stupid college seniors will try to take your pride flag(hair) away from you the first chance they have. But it's always good to be posting on a board surrounded by fellow long hairs, such as this one,as is the ONLY place I can get 24/7 support from(actually, the only form of support,in my case -.-).Thanks for the word up,Mark, and I'll see u round!Take care and keep that glimmering awesome, blond mane growing!
Oh Dear another attack of the scissors. That's too bad and we're glad to hear you won't have military duty and can grow it out yet again.
As you post updates some may find it useful to copy and paste all their old replies of encouragement. XD
Kevin
You know, Kevin, for the president of what is essentially a support group, you have an incredible knack for coming across as distinctly unsupportive.
Young Rafael might not have absolutely "needed" to cut his hair prior to his potential military obligations, but he wasn't really doing it out of personal choice, either. I can understand a certain lack of sympathy for those who have simply decided "I feel like cutting it all off" and then shortly after change their minds again, but seems to me this is a bit different situation.
Jim
Thanks,Jim!you coudn't have put it better!Sadly, when I was at the military post, there were a few long hairs(5 or 6),and none of them were called to serve the army - I was pissed,as I could've just gone there with my long hair and nothing would've happened to me -.-.But,anyways,it's a nice opportunity I now have to grow my hair out again, except that, when I get into college,I have yet to escape the prank attack done by the seniors to long haired freshmen(which will most likely be my case when I get into college).I'll fight for my hair if I have to - literally XD
No problem, Rafael. Personally, I enjoyed my time in my country's military, but I understand it's not everyone's "cup of tea", and that's fine.
As far as freshman "pranks", my only suggestion is the method I used during my freshman year in high school... I practiced invisibility. Simply put, I avoided drawing attention to myself. Of course, your hair will do some of that all by itself, but avoiding any other methods of drawing the upperclassmen to you might help. Best of luck in growing your hair back out, and holding on to it. And if worst comes to worst, it will grow back out again.
Was that unsupportive?
Actually Jim anyone who wants to can cruise the archives and see
tons and tons of supportive comments to very many people growing their hair. I will contrast that to your posts of support to all the fine young men and not so young men growing their hair, they are not nearly as numerous and in fact rather few as far back as I looked. Not that anyone has got a quota to meet or anything like that but certainly if one is going to take others to task one wants to be qualified to do so in order to be taken seriously.
In my post to Rafael I insert some tongue and cheek humour and mild sarcasm. I think he's man enough to get it even if English is not his native language.
I'm sorry you didn't get it.
Kevin
I understand your point of view,Kevin, but I don't think using sarcasm to tell short haired people to be more careful when posting is a supportive and effective way of gathering more users to this board,as it just keeps them away.As far as I know, this is supposed to be a board where long haired male can create a circle of friendship and help each other, regarding not only hair related subjects, but SOME life issues. It's not only due to the fact that you're a long hair yourself that you can ridicularize people going through the awkward phase. Some people grow long hair without trims or anything, some decide to cut it,but,as many users from this board said,a long hair in the heart is a true long hair, and I think you have forgotten that.I find it ridiculous to create arguments and harsh discussions among board members over such small things like these, especially nowadays, that long haired male are so discriminated against by so many people, especially in industries and work places. These people are the ones who need to be advised and ridicularized,NOT OURSELVES.As far as I can see,you are just trying to unleash an unfriendly form of civil war among board members, even when using mild sarcasm like you did in my post.BTW,english may not be my native language, but I've lived for enough time in the U.S to be able to understand subliminal posts like yours.Long haired people are already in small number, but,by doing some of the things you tend to do,this small number will become even smaller and smaller, until it comes to a point where this board will be an empty and hollow desert. No offense directed to you, from my part.
You're quite right that I don't post here near as often as some other members, including yourself. I don't always chime in on comments to updates if I don't have something to say besides a simple "Looks nice". If I don't have something of substance to say, I'll often wait until I do. However, I also don't confuse quantity with quality. When I do say something, I try to make sure it is well thought out and fitting to the subject at hand.
If you knew me in real life, you'd know that sarcasm is second nature to me. That's why I recognize it readily when I see it. My earlier comment merely stated that I didn't think it was all that appropriate at the time.
And this isn't the first time you've responded in a sarcastic manner to someone in a similar situation of having cut their hair (for whatever reason) and attempting to re-grow. If you'd like, I can check those same archives and start quoting posts back to you. For the current leader of a board that bills itself as a place to find support for growing hair, that seems to me as less than optimum behavior. If you're unhappy with my opinion of your posts, well, you're entitled to your opinion, but don't expect that to change how I feel or whether or not I choose to express my feelings.
You hit it right on the head. Bottom line we have the right to express our feelings as long as we don't violate posting rules and we haven't. As we've seen what seems like a deluge of "I cut and am regrowing" posts" Some of us are growing a bit weary.
I expressed my feelings which I'm afforded the right to do even as President of the group.
Have I posted sarcastic posts in the past? Oh yes.
Will I post sarcastic posts in the future? Guaranteed.
Do I do that often? Not really as the other mods would deal with me if I got too out of hand.
So this doesn't become one of "those" threads I'll graciously give you the final word. After that it ends, thus posts after that will be removed by the mod crew or myself.
Kevin
I know what you mean, and it's definetely a pain in the ass to have to hear stories of people cutting and shaving their hairs for personal choice, but,as you may have read in JS Frodo's post,That was not my case,as Brazil is a very harsh and cold place for the survival of long haired males.I hope you come to understand it,and thanks for welcoming me again - especially now that I'm an awkwarder(again). And I will see what I can do about the replies, haha, but I have read some as a lurker, and they're pretty well elaborated, actually.
Could have been worse ! Ha!
While the military life can be a good one.....now is not the time...glad you do not have to serve.
Thanks for Sharing and Keep us posted with your progress, my Padawan learner....
WWT
Haha, that's what I'd call a true padawan;nice pic,Walter! And I have actually thought about going to the army,as my stepfather has chosen this path by going to the military school at 15,and lives a pretty good life, except that he is bald and a pain in the ass XD.If I fail at design/art college,I'm most likely doing military school(if possible). Thanks for the words,Walter!Good luck growing ur hair =)
Hello,
Too bad for the bowl cut. Hopefully, that's not too short...
Good news for the army "issue" :)
To get rid off the mirrors... That's a pretty good idea, yes.
Bye (myself style ! God ! I didn't know it was a style ! :p)
Vivien
Thanks for the words,Vivien, and yes,the bowl cut was a disaster -.-,but it's growing ok now XD.It's a relief to be excused from military service, though,so I can't say it was all that bad cutting my hair.I hope the balding spot problem has gotten better, and am cheering up for ya as you go through this process(must be a pain in the butt).Your hair still looks awesome, though, and I wish I had the kind of hair you got(blonde and straight) - you would be a great success among chicks, down here in Brazil,as it is not everyday that you find a male with long, straight and blond hair! XD
Many of our fellow long hairs here look like fellow beggars, haha.Take care,Vivien!
and yes,''Bye'' is a style =D
See ya round(that's another style).
haha
Thanks for taking news about my issue, Raphael. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to get better, but I began a treatment with essential oils some weeks ago, and I'm pretty confident about that... Be sure that all the board will be informed ;)
Vivien
It's good to see you back here, Rafael. I'm glad you're not in the military, growing your hair again. Looks like it's growing quite well so far, no surprise, it was doing great last time, too. Keep growing and keep us updated, man.
Cheers,
Hegg
Thanks,Hegg, and I will definetely struggle to keep up with my hair, especially now,in the retarded looking awkward phase XD.Your hair,as always,is looking ever great and even more badass than before!Hail! And yes,i will do my best at keeping you guys updated.Take care(of your hair, especially!) XD
Hi Rafael,
It is great to see you posting again, and your latest hair growing journey is progressing very well, and your hair is thick and healthy. That is wonderful news that you won't be faced with the army again, so your hair growing should be able to be uninterupted from now on.
Keep it growing,
David
Thanks,David, and is pretty cool to have been excused from the army service,as I can not imagine myself with a shaved head, and would definetely not like to see such ugly thing, haha.THe only thing that can settle me back now is the college prank,my family and future job issues(quite a few things, actually XD).Take care, and your hair is wonderful, especially it's color.
Hi Rafael,
Good to hear from you and that's great news that you don't have to serve in the army and just let you hair grow again. Okay we all have set backs from time to time and I'm sure 3rd time lucky your hair will look amazing over the next few months.
As for employment in the armed forces it certainly should be choice and not by force. I have a few friends that very proud to serving our country and HM!
Cheers,
John.B
PS...I thought mirrors were for vane people rofl!
Ta ta for now...John.B style :-)
Thanks,John, and I agree with you that military service should not be obligatory, but a decision you make with your own conscience.Haha,I think mirrors is are the most raw and solid form of vanity, nowadays - not to mention make up and many other things.Your hair is awesome,BTW,and I hope I can achieve something like it someday,as my hair type is not so different from yours.Take care. That's a pretty good and modern style of saying goodbye,BTW,haha.
Well you're off to a good start Rafael. I am glad you didn't have to serve in the military at this time. I hope you do fine at art and design school so you don't have to consider the military again. Consider keeping your long hair motivation to do well at the art school. Besides, long hair automatically makes you more creative :) I am sure you will do well.
Welcome back it was great to see your post.
Thanks,Chris, and growing one's hair out is definetely an effective way of focusing more on your thoughts, thus bringing you more creativity.Your hair is excellent, and I envy it a lot.Good luck growing it longer.Peace.
GREAT news Rafael!!!
Look forward to seeing you around the board!
Regards Dave
Thanks!
It's good to be posting here, again.
Your hair is looking ever great,David, and is very unique,as I've said many times =P.Take care.
Good to to see ya back Rafael! It looks like you're off to a good start. Keep it growin'!
Bruce
Thanks,Bruce, and I'll definetely do so ^^.Your hair looks really good, btw, and I like the way it was trimmed.Take care.
