This looks worth going over to India to have done; I get a pleasant tingly feeling just watching it done on someone else. And to be honest, I often go to a barber here in town just to get a shave (he knows not to touch my head hair), as the experience is exhiliratng (sp?). He doesn't offer this, though.
My concern is thus: Would a head massage with this level of energy be damaging to long hair?

Hi Ivix,
I experienced something similar when I visited Bangalore in India a few years ago and my hair was quite long then. I was certainly very relaxed after that.
When I got home a friend of mine teaches Indian Head Massage and other treatments. The technique I was taught was alot different to what I experienced on India. I have done many indian head massages with people that have longhair and it certaily doesn't damage the hair. I'm sure it stimulate hair folicles and afterwards hair will need to be finger combed and brushed again.
If you get a chance have a head massage and is very relaxing.
Cheers,
