hi i have medium hair but i've noticed that a year ago i started shedding and my hair quality went down. I was wondering if there's anyone here who is dealing with this while still trying to keep their long hair, i wouldn't like to cut it. I have read some hair loss forums and came up with nizoral 1% to 2-3 times a week but its drying my hair out. I want to find out any good shampoos, and conditioner that a person dealing with hair loss and long hair would use. Most guys in those forums dont care about long hair. Any ideas? much appreciated.
Hi
Sorry to hear about your problem. Don't hesitate to see a dermatologist if you feel the problem is serious. Hair loss is not a minor issue, and it doesn't happen ramdomly.
I advise you to stimulate your scalp (with a brush, or fingers) and to check if you don't lack of vitamins.
Good luck !

Nizoral is good for your scalp every few washes. Don't use it every 3 days, but rather every 3 washes. I also reccommend a biotin supplement for hair quality and extending your hair cycle (you'll be able to grow hair longer). As far as MPB goes, you really onlyhave 2 proven options...rogaine (more for crown) and Propecia (all over). I've been taking propecia for over a year with fantastic results. But talk to a dermotologist about your options as this is a perscribed medication.
Good luck

Thanks i've been taking biotin for about a month religiously 2500mcg morning and evening, and got my hands on finasteride(proscar, propecia) which im taking too. The thing i hate about the treatment is that nizoral aswell as finasteride cause more shedding in the begining, so it becomes a little scary and obsessive once i see those hairs in the shower... hopegfully in a year this will have stopped with the help of the finasteride.
The nizoral dries out my hair and leaves it brittle, you have any tips on that? i've been having to use this thing i found called "organics hair mayonnaise" which is helping to re-moisturize the hair so it doesn't look like an old broom. thanks for the replies.
Hey Yanni,
Yea the Biotin will help overall with quality, keep taking that. Propecia/Finastride shouldnt cause shedding for too long and it's definatly not gonna cause so much shedding that your hair will look different...i don't think i went through a shedding period with that. Stick with it though, it work amazingly, especially if you're young. With the nizoral, use it every 3rd wash...I dont kno what ur wash cycle is, but i was mine every other day and use it about every 3rd wash (once a week)...I use "Mane & Tail" sham/conditioner otherwise which is also good for long hair. Honestly, you should see a great difference in a year, you'll be amazed.
