Hey guys,
this is my first post. I have been growing my hair off and on for the past few years. Currently it is as long as it has ever been. i really like it and I'm waiting for it to get longer so i can put it into a ponytail. My girlfriend loves my hair and I love it too but i keep taking heat from friends and family. What should I do?
p.s. I'm including a before pic from my freshmen year at college and a current picture the current pic will be the first pic and then my old pic following
Just ignore - their views are an utter irrelevance. You will not stop them trying but some may give and content themselves with muttering behind your back. It gives them something to do and they may later find someone else to complain about.
Hi Nick,
First of all WELCOME to the world famous mlhh my friend! Thanks for posting your very cool before and after hair pics.I have to admit the short cut isn't all that awful but certainly you look so much better with your hair grown out longer:)What exactly is your goal or are you just going day by day?As for all those naysayers about your hair...well not much you can do other than to explain your true feelings why you want longhair. If they can't live with that then its not your problem.Trouble is some guys get intimidated into cutting it off just for that reason but you look very strong willed and doesn't look like anyone will mess with you either:)Cheers
Mark
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going to keep growing it out so that I can put it back into a ponytail.
Hey welcome to the board Nick, it's great to have you here. Man is there ever a difference between those two pictures you posted. I wouldn't guess they were the same person! Looks like you not only grew more hair but seriously bulked out too! Talk about a complete transformation, incredible.
Hey the hair looks great don't let anybody talk you out of it, you're a natural.
Welcome to the board!
And, Chris, I was thinking the same thing!

Your hair looks good, Nick. Once you have about twice your current length, it will stay in a ponytail and will be easy to keep neat and tidy. At that point, your friends and family will be less likely to bug you about your hair. This will require about a year of patience, putting up with all the nagging from friends and family, but in the end, will be worth it.
Your hair appears to be red, but it is hard to tell due to bad lighting. Long red hair can look spectacular, probably because redheaded longhair men are rare. Take a good look at Paul, his hair is fantastic. Do keep growing it for sure. For more inspiration, here is a link to a photo on Victor's men's long hair site. Floyd has classic length thick red hair.

Thank you for the encouragement. My hair is actually not red it was just the lighting in the picture that makes it look like that.
You look much better with the long hair...I think onces it gets past your shoulders your family and friends will change their minds and don't want you to cut it...
Welcome to the board Nick,
For you and the other newbies here I've posted my favorite retorts to rude comments about you hair. Hope you like them.
Paul
Keep your girlfriend (and take her away w/ you on a romantic get-away weekend); dump your old friends (and get some new ones that like you with long hair); and as far as your family goes, no need to hang around them for a long long time (until they BEG to see you because they miss you and don't remember what the hell you look like anyway)...
Happy hair growing!!

I did almost that exact thing. Family started bitchin' my hair got longer. My goal now is down to the crack of me arse, but that's still a few years down the road!
That Urban Cowboy seems like a really cool & wise Dude, you'd do best to listen to him. My Hair & my Gut is in a race to see which hits critical mass fastest. I fear the Gut is winning. L.o.L.!

Hey Nick. Welcome to the board. I'm fairly new myself, but my husband Paul has been here quite a while. Your hair looks great. Keep it growing, and don't listen to what others have to say. All of my kids have long hair, even the boys. My mom used to ask me when I was going to cut my boys hair. I guess she finally realized that I won't cut it, because she hasn't asked in a long time.
Anyway, keep it up. And again, welcome.
Angel
Welcome, I'm new here too. This place is great for those times when people harass you over your hair.
