I just read through a few of the many posts below as a way of catching up. As always, great stuff out there:
- conditioner recommendations;
- dealing with negative remarks (nice list, btw);
- fantastic updates;
- stories of family and long-hair history;
- usual Qs and As;
- etc.
I truly appreciate the core group that supports this site and who keep the consistency up for those who find this site at the start of their journeys. I would never have become a long hair if not for this site. I consider myself a longhair and really don't foresee ever going back to a short haircut. Being a curly head it is amazing to me how much longer my hair is when wet: the curls spring it right back up and, on 'good hair days' I often get asked by my co-workers if I got a haircut because it looks shorter.
I still want to add about another foot or two of wet length so that, when dry, it will sit on my shoulders and spill over my back a bit - just a bit longer than it currently sits when wet.
Thanks again to all the many people who support the site and its members. This community rocks!
I'll be checking in, if sporadically.
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
So nice to hear from you, Shawn, --- and that curly mane of yours is lookin' better and more awesome than ever!!!
I go through my sporadic phases of coming here, too. Right now I'm attempting to be a more regular MLHH participant; but, often my job nowadays has too many demands on me to be very consistent about it. Other things in life thrtow their curve balls at me, too. Hey, we do whatever we can.... it's just good that this place is always here for us, regardless of however rarely we have the free time to come by!
I hope your teaching is still going well, and that life and everything is going good for you!!
Take Care,
Ken in San Francisco
Thanks, I really appreciate your comment. I am loving my hair (though it is warm in the summrr to wear a 'toque' of one's own hair. Pony tails are my usual modus operandus in the summer.)
It is. Summer is in swing, but I am already prepping for and dreaming about school's swift return.
Thanks again!
Shawn
Hi Shawn,
It is always a pleasure to hear from you, and your curls are looking awesome! Congratulations on "sticking to your guns", and growing such a great head of hair!
Also, I hope all is well with you and all your family. I admit to not posting on the hyperboard as much as I used to myself, and at times I feel badly about this. I guess I have had other things on my mind these days.
Take care, and keep it growing!
David
Thanks, David. The ongoing support I got at my crucial beginning was what I needed. Now that I see myself as a longhair, it would take some large life change for me to reconsider my hair being short again.
Things are great with my family. Holly, now 6, was so excited to feed a rat to a friend's snake this week..busy as usual.
Thanks Dave, you, too.

Shawn, it's good to hear from you! Your curls are looking fantastic!
Like David and Ken, I too feel that I'm not around as much as I would like to, but I do poke my head in time to time.
Hope all is well on that side of the pond.
Bruce
Thanks, Bruce. I appreciate it.
Peek-A-Boo!
It is. All well over there, too?
-Shawn
Hey Shawn, looking good there! You've got ahell of a lot of curls to tend now no wonder you don't have time to check the board :)
I have been extremely sporadic myself. It seems pretty normal to me that many things can conflict with the limited time and energy we all have. I hope things are going well for you and your family. It was great seeing you post again!
Take care
LOL!
Thanks! Things are going well. (Part of why I am so preoccupied with other, non MLHH tasks these days.)
You too!
-Shawn
Hi Shawn,
Greatto hear from you and hope things are well with you and thanks for posting the update picture. That must be one of the hidden joys having naturally curly hair is does grow and a surprise when you pull out length. As I'd said many times you have a great head of hair and so nice to see a wonderful head of curly locks.
Do keep in touch.
Cheers,
John.B
I will keep in touch, John. Thanks for the compliments. I appreciate the support.
Shawn
Shawn !
Thanks for the kind words and for your update....you are a fine example of what a "curly-head" can do with perseverance and patience.
Looking good my friend!!
Walter
Ah, Shucks, Walter! You done gone and made me blush.
I appreciate your support and encouragement.
Shawn
Hey Shawn,
Its always a pleasure to see you on the board no matter how infrequent that might be.At least you never forgot us and do pop in occasionally.Your hair is looking great and its cool that you want much more length:)Hey that's what we are here for my friend.Do post whenever you can just so the newbies get to know you also.Thanks for posting the update pic too.Cheers
Mark
Thanks, Mark. I feel very welcome here.
Your hair is looking great and its cool that you want much more length:)Hey that's what we are here for my friend.
The length will be deceptive. Getting it wet will make it look like an instant growth tonic was used.
Do post whenever you can just so the newbies get to know you also.Thanks for posting the update pic too.Cheers
I appreciate the comments. I will try to get on here more often.
Shawn
Nice to hear from you ! Great curls :)
Vivien
Thanks!
-Shawn
Great to hear from you Shawn and to see that your hair is looking good as usual.
Thanks for the kind words as well.
Kevin
Gee, Thanks, Kevin!
You deserve them!
-Shawn
I had been busy that I had not noticed that you were absent for a while from the board. Nontheless, your hair is really curly, and it is curlier than mine, and my hair is quite curly. Like you, I plan to be a long hair for as long as I am alive. Since my hair is not as curly, I do not see my hair much longer when wet as when it is dry.
Matthew
Matt, your hair has grown a lot since I've lasted posted regularly. Awesome for you! Keep it long, Curl-brother.
Shawn
Hey Shawn, great to see you here again. Your hair/curls are looking great. Stop by more often!
Thanks, Jason. I will try, honest! (No Yoda quotes needed on this one...I know already...)
Always faboo curls, you aren't the only poster who has been absent more lately. Nice to see how you are doing, I assume you are still teaching?
Thanks, Carol. Yes, Still teaching, though off for summer....of course I am already having dreams of being ill-prepared for the start of the new year. Time to get organized!
