I was watching CNN and they did a story about a kid who sailed
around the world by himself. When he left California he was a
short hair and upon his return a year later his hair is just
falling on his shoulders.
That's one way to go through the awkward stage.
No barbers in the middle of the ocean, lets hope he keeps
Growing it.

Quite inspirational I think.

That kid is amazing. He is among only a handful of teenagers to achieve this. Probably more men have walked on the moon than teenagers sailing solo around the world. He must have been very lonely. His voyage was just in the news today and he does have a good mane now. Hopefully he will keep it long.
Below is a link to probably the first teenager to do this in modern times. His voyage is documented in National Geographic magazine.

People should go around the world more often!
Yeah,I agree. :D
That's a nice way to grow hair out.
Great story there Kevin as the kid definately has guts.It takes a strong individual to take on a task like that with so many unknowns that he is bound to run into during his journey. His longhair journey must have been a piece of cake by comparison:)Well chalk one up for why longhairs need to be more respected.

This young man was featured on CBS news a while back. I noticed how long his hair had become. From his Q&A blog: "Do you plan on getting your hair cut?
No hair cut planned. I did pack a few hair supplies. I believe it was Jesse Martin that left port for nearly a year with no brush or hair ties (or haircut!)."
