So I wanted to formally introduce myself to the group since I am new here. My name is Mikhael and I am 30 years old. I am a Theologian within an old order Reformed Church. Married to a wonderful wife and father to a 4 year old daughter.
Currently I am bearded by conviction and trying to grow out my hair to shoulder length hair. Side hair is down to the bottom of my ear lobe and back portion of hair down to the bottom of my neck. My hair tends to grow faster then the norm but I sure hope to be done growing it out and being beyond messy and mullet looking.
Besides Theology my hobbies are brewing ale/wine/mead, occasional smoke a nice clay pipe. Tending to my grapes and blackberry vines for the Wine making. Making homemade cheese. Other types gardening. Soapstone carving. Listening to quality music and reading a good book. I enjoy debating many different topics. I sometimes also enjoy trying to explain to people who ask me if I am Amish why I look Amish-like but am NOT Amish. I always get a "Wha" when I tell them I am not Amish, I am Puritan. Of course they have NO idea the difference between Amish and Puritans Doctrinally.
Anyway here is my photo from May of 2009.
And Greetings to All.

Welcome to the board Michael I'm sure you'll achieve your length goal fairly quickly. If you need to keep it tidy along the way sprays and hair gels. experiment and find one you can tolerate and remember it's only temporary.

Welcome to the board. The beard looks great. The slicked back look will work really well through the awkward faze.
Hello and welcome Mikael.

Hi Mikhael,
Welcome to the hyperboard, and be sure to make yourself at home! Thank you for sharing your story with us, and you have a great head of hair to work with for your long hair journey. You can be assured of lots of support from this community as you grow it longer.
Keep it growing,
David
And greeting back to you, too, --- and WELCOME to the MLHH!!!
Nice pic (and GREAT beard), and definitely an interesting introduction... And, you are rtight: I have very little idea of what the difference between the Amish and Puritans are all about, doctrine-wise. But, then again, having been raised a Christian Scientist, many people don't have a clue of what that religion is all about, "theologically-speaking" either, --- not to also mention that most of my closest friends and relatives mostly happen to be devout Atheists (including my favorite sister-in-law having been RAISED by hardcore Atheist parents)!! Go figure...
Life has its comic aspects, whether one is religious or not; but, as long as there is love and tolerance and mutual respect, there is no reason not to all get along.
Take care, --- and again, WELCOME!!

Welcome Mikhael, welcome!
Don't worry about the mullet thing, it's never as bad as you perceive it to be. It'll all even out in the end.

We have quite a mixed group here, so I'm sure you'll fit in just fine. Some of us are heavy metal types, and some of us are computer geeks (like me), but we all like our hair long.
