Well guys, I've been lurking here for a while and have decided to finally post!
I've always worn my hair really short, cropped most of the time. Having moved away from my parents, and from my father's control, I decided to let it all grow out now. Problem is, I have pretty much no idea what to do!
Reading about long hair, mostly on women's forums, it's like a whole new universe I have to study. Conditioner only washing, water only, CWC (I don't even know what that means!)... I barely know how to comb my hair!
What I'd like to know is if there is any resource you guys know about for learning about all of this? Best I could find was http://www.choisser.com/longhair/, but there are still many doubts!
Also, I'm posting a picture, of about 4 months of growth from practically no hair. I've measured a strand from the top of my head and it's 8 centimeters long right now. I still can't identify what type of hair I have, since it seems wavy and gets really straight all over whenever I run a comb through it, even if it's just one run. But, the ends of neck and forehead hairs seem to form a single curl! Any idea if this would look good when it's long?
Sorry to write so much, I'm just a bit lost! English isn't my native language, hopefully I've made some sense.
Thanks in advance!
Bill's site "On Being a Longhair" is probably the best sources of info out there for us guys. Bill is a longtime user of 12 or more years who helped write a lot of the software we use to run this forum.
He's seen all the questions people ask a hundred times. At the very least it will answer a lot of questions for you leaving the experimenting part up to you.
Good luck
Kevin
Welcome to MLHH, Bruno !!
First, do not apologize for your use of English; it is excellent !
...as far as guidance through your journey to longhair, just do not cut it and read this forum daily. You will get lots of encouragement and advise as you go through the awkward stage. Your hair appears thick and heavy, so that stage may not be too bad for you.
I look forward to following your progress.

First things first: WELCOME to MLHH, Bruno!! (And in my opinion, you speak EXCELLENT English!!!)
Don't worry about feeling lost in this new world of long hair, --- hey, I didn't have a clue myself until I left home at age 18 and found out my hair had a lot of natural waves to it (because my dad kept it so short when I still lived in his house, that it always only stuck straight uP - lol)!!
There are a couple or more different longhair philosophies, or "camps", if you will, --- some longhairs feeling adamantly that you should never cut or even trim; while others believe in regular trimming to some degree, at least. Also there are the shampooers VS the non-shampooers (people who "water-wash only", or in some cases, wash with hair conditioners only. My suggestion is to simply do what feels comfortable to YOU, --- while at the same time, continue to be a regular reader of this forum, as the great variety of posts and threads tand replies and counter-replies that all arrive here are an "education" in and of itself (if not also "entertainment" at times, too - LOL)....
Lastly, I also want to add that there's nothing wrong at all with taking it slowly. Nobody here will make you sign a contract that you "have to" grow you hair down to floor-length, if all you really wish to do is grow it to your shoulders... It's YOUR hair, --- so, just enjoy beginning the journey, and down the road a piece, some of these other more confusing decisions will gradually become more obvious to you which paths will be best suited for you to try....
Happy hair farming!

Welcome Bruno!
This should be interesting journey for you.
Your hair will take on its own unique character, as will the regimen of care you find that works best for you.
