I found today a pic of my dad,Adelio, taken 1 or 2 weeks before he died. He was growing out his hair too,he didn't have a cut since 11 months and a half. It was coming along pretty well. He had no particoular goal in mind, since I suggested him to grow out his hair and he liked the idea. He liked to tie his hair in a small ponytail,he found it more comfortable. He was very stubborn about washing his hair with shampoo,he thought washing too often can just damage hair and cause shedding,so he didn't wash his hair with shampoo really often, but he would wash it with water only some times. I always made fun of him for that but I wonder if it was the right method...He had a head full of hair except for a small bald spot in the center. He had grey hair since he was 30 but never wanted to dye it.
I miss him so much and I wish he could be here to continue his hair journey along with me,but I just hope he's resting in peace.

Hi Andrea,
I am genuinely sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad, and thank you for sharing this photo of him and his hair.
He did have a great head of hair in excellent condition, and it would have been cool to see him grow it a lot longer. The fact that it was fairly thick, and also straight, would have meant that he could have achieved quite an awesome mane.
Take care,
David
Thanks,David. And yes I agree, his hair looked really healthy, thick and straight.
I'm very sorry your Dad has passed away. He did have some pretty hair. Tommie
Your dad had a lovely head of silvery grey hair Andrea. And for him to listen to your advice to let it grow, shows that he was a wise and open minded man.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Bruce
Thanks a lot,Bruce. :)
And you're right,he was a really open minded kind man.

Im really sorry to hear about your father bro. I just lost my dad almost 2 years ago so I know how much that shit hurts and im still hurting from it. My dad always had about shoulder length hair before he passed away so long hair in his eyes on me was badass as he said lol but yea man hang in there dude I know what your going through! Me and you are growing our hair for them esp now :)
Thanks, man. I'm sorry about yours too...mine died on May,cause of a stroke. Yes,let's keep growing for them as well. :P

My dad died about 4 years back, so I feel for both of you as well. He was a person who always liked and wanted long hair. But unfortunately every time he'd start growing it my mom would demand that he get a haircut instead of waiting for the awkward phase to end. He always kept it just long enough that you could tell he didn't like it short which annoyed her to no end. Interestingly though my mom loves my hair long, but she has never had to see me every day while I was growing it out either. I'll keep growing my hair in honor of my dad, as well as yours.
I'm sorry to hear that father is passed away. I agree with him that shampoo does more damage than good, my hair looks much better now that I water wash only. He does have great thick, silver hair; kind of reminds me of Sam Elliot. I hope that some day I'm a silvery long haired gent like your father was. Anyways, great picture!
I should have take him more seriously. :P
Thanks, man and I wish to have such great head of hair for his age when I'll be 58 too!

That's a touching story Andrea and I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my dad about 2 1/2 years ago.
Paul
I'm sorry,Paul.
It's really sad to lose someone you love, expecially if you're young and you realize your father wont' get the chance to see you grown up and be a grandpa...I'm 17.

I just found another pic, this one was taken around November 2008. As you can see his hair grew a lot from December to May!

Hi Andrea,
I'm so sorry that you lost your dad recently, especially at your very young age.My own mom passed away this past May but at least I had her in my life well into adulthood. Can't even imagine loosing a parent as a teenager.
It has to be some comfort that he was cool about growing out his hair along with you:)Those pics you posted of him are awesome and a fantastic way to remember his last days.Take care of yourself my friend.
Mark
Thanks,Mark.
Yes it makes me sad knowing he won't be able to see me older...
-Andrea
Thanks for posting the pictures, Andrea. He had a good head of hair. I'm sorry he's no longer with us. You must miss him.
Alun
Yes,I do miss him a lot.
His hair looks great, too bad he passed away.
My condolences, I wish you and your family the best.
Thanks, but I'm the only one from his family. His mother,87 years old is now in a old people retirement house and is depressed. He had no brothers or sisters,no uncles,no aunts...just me,his dog and his mom.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. My dad passed away just recently, and I'm still struggling to accept it. Hope you're coping well.
I'm sorry about it...it's really hard to accept it.
Hi Andrea,

My dad passed away in 1996.
