Doesn't it seem evil to you guys that a lot of short haired people actually LIKE seeing videos of longhaired people getting their hard word chopped off? I was on buzzboard today, just looking around because it was mentioned in one of the links from this site.... and I saw a lot of people were finding joy in seeing people get their awesome long hair chopped off.
It seems to be tinged with hate for some reason. I don't hate people with short hair, and don't question their reasons for having it. Why do these sorts of people hate to see people grow theirs out? Doesn't make sense to me.
Also, I'm at that point again where I just want my hair to grow... can't stop thinking about how long it'll be in another year.
ROFL! Good one, Andrew!
Actually I have never ventured over to that board but from what you described it sure is cruel of someone to take such joy in a longhair getting his mane cut.Such a drastic change to ones appearance.Well at least the longhairs can take refuge here, my friend, where hair is treated with respect:)

": Doesn't it seem evil to you guys that a lot of short haired people actually LIKE seeing videos of longhaired people getting their hard word chopped off?"
Makes you wonder whether it indicates the ever-deepening progress of civilization or a plain, sentimental primitivism and superstition. I tend to find myself in doubts if humans have managed to evolve at all from the animal "the different abandon the herd" ideology, 'cause that's what your post made me think of. A fully historically mature humankind should encourage the strife for the uniqueness, not glee at its demise... But, ideals will be but ideals, I guess.

I hate people with short hair who hate people because of long hair
Why do these sorts of people hate to see people grow theirs out? Doesn't make sense to me.
They're just jealous :)
Also, I'm at that point again where I just want my hair to grow... can't stop thinking about how long it'll be in another year.
Same here. Ive been growing it out for 30 months now and have no plans of stoping its growth any time soon
I hate short haired people who think they're so cool and dislike long haired guys and see them as freaks. But I would never dislike a short haired guy who's nice. Almost all of my friends have short hair!
-Andrea
Yeah, about the jealousy thing...
It takes about 20 seconds and no talent to self-cut a buzzcut. It takes years of dedication to have nice and long hair :)

People disrespect the hard work-gotten success and like whatever can be achieved with as little effort as possible. I've never matured enough to ignore when someoune insults anything I've achieved after much effort.
I regret to say that people derive pleasure from many things - some quite unimaginably cruel. Where quite curring perfectly good hair comes in the scale I am not sure though I do much disapprove.
I have visited that Buzzboard website a few times usually every few months or so and there's this one guy (the webmaster of the site i think) who has this fetish for seeing long hair cut short on guys and gleefully posts up these sickening videos which are usually downloaded from youtube. It is insulting for a long hair to see other long hairs have their hair hacked and then shown as "entertainment". I only visit the buzzboard to remind myself why I do not want to have short hair again and also to have a bit of a laugh to at seeing people enjoy twice a week visits to the barber shop.
And to be fair I noticed that most of the posters on the buzz site do NOT deride long hair men only a small minority. Why does this small group do this? Probably partly jealously- and of fear/intolerance of something different outside of their world-view.
I too have short-haired friends who I accept as they accept me what I am.
Duncan
Yeah those videos are what I was talking about. I won't be filming my "cutting" video for many more years to come :)
Here and the other board exist in their different ways and with very little agro.
Cheers,
John.B
My thought is I know what they are all about and am not even
curious to read or see any of it.
One suggestion to anybody is if you find it objectionable don't
go there. To each his own and the people in the videos are
there voluntarily so if that's what they want to do it's there
business. Also if someone gets off on watching that well that's
his business. Not really evil in my eyes just because I don't
agree. One of the problems society has is much of it tends to
vilify that which it doesn't agree with leading to hate and
oppression. I could go on but I'll stop there.
Now if someone were held against there will and hair cut that
may be a crime depending on what country they live in.
Kevin
I haven't looked over there in a long time. The people there very enormously, from absolutely decent to scary as heck. Several of them do have an actual hair cutting fetish, there's no denying that, and I can't pretend that doesn't bother me.
Alun
This is a most excellent philosophy; thanks for the reminder.
Keep in mind that people who merely see you on the street will take your image home in their minds to take part in their fantasies. The abilities to photograph, videotape, and share on line have just added new ways to do what people have been doing all along.

" Not really evil in my eyes just because I don't agree."
What we are talking about here is not the liberty of views but an ethical status of certain views, showing that, as needed as liberty is, it can often be misused, and that's the point when I say law should prevail over all-allowing anarchy. What those blokes say there clearly bears an air of destructivity and antipathy towards the longhairs; while, on the other hand, we, longhairs, prefer long hair to short, but do NOT disdain the shorthaired men. You say and think "To each his own", yet they don't. That is a significant difference!
Yes Opeth, completely evil.
I can count my longhaired friends on one hand (irl, mind you) and most of them are really just acquaintances. None of them have hair as long as mine. So, nearly all my friends have short hair, some with the buzzard cut. Obviously, I don't hate anyone for their hairstyle, no matter how stupid it looks. My short haired friends can crack on me and I love it because you all know I have a lot of good comebacks
But those people you describe Opeth, are evil. I agree. The ones who get so much glee from longhair falling on the barber's floor would gladly hold any of us down and hack off our hair it they thought they could get by with it. That's demented.
It has actually happened at some schools. One teacher forced a longhair male student to sit in front of the class and cut his own hair while his peers watched. I heard this story with my own ears from his mom who was very, very angry.
The wrestling team at OG physically held down one of it's members and give him a buzz. He didn't want a buzz but his mom is one of the hair nazis at the school so nothing will happen about it.
I've got more but I think you get the idea.
So some might just dismiss all this. Whatever, believe what you want but those idiots hate our hair a lot more than we like it. Think about that for a moment. Frightening? I consider myself a "hair loving freak", but I know I don't like my hair nearly as much as those fanatics hate it.
Who said it a few post back? "She looked at me like she had 50 cal. machine guns in her eyes."? If you have longhair and haven't seen that hateful look from someone by now, maybe you're half blind.
Longhairs have tired the "ignore" tactic for what, 40 years or so? It didn't work did it? The hair haters don't have as much power or influence as they once did but they still affect society way too much.
I know one thing for a fact, they don't f*ck with me twice. No, I don't whip everybody's butt that gives me a dirty look but they do get what they give. Trust me, a lot more effective than sticking your head in the sand and preaching denial.
Maybe we should all get together and flood their stupid board with messages. I wouldn't go there myself unless I was itching for a fight.
Sorry for the rant but hair haters really get under my skin. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go outside and break something.
Paul
I agree with you 100%. I read stories such as those you listed and it really makes me cringe. I have gotten "the look" quite a few times, and I usually just laugh it off and ignore it.
But, if someone were to ever get right up in my face and say something derogatory about me having long hair, I would not be so passive. While I usually try to avoid stooping to their level, sometimes hostility is the only way to get your message across.
Yeah, I had to go there just to see. What a hateful place.
Apparently all longhairs are "hippies", no exceptions. The Webmaster is a true Hair Nazi if I ever encountered one.
Here are some highlights for all my stand up buddies here to sharpen their teeth on.

Thanks for posting the video but those two are about the furthest thing from hippies that ever existed. You can call them anything you want to but the true "hippy" culture is a thing of the remote past. I'm just in the mood for nit-picking today, my apologies. I guess by virtue of the length and shagginess of the hair one could say that they had hair similar to a hippy's.

I agree they were not "true" hippies. More like clueless wannabes. But I like calling longhairs hippies. Or mop-heads. I find it funny that they have no first clue how STUPID they look!

The worse haircut I've ever seen.
This last post shows an obviously stolen pic of a guy with half buzz/half long. Does anyone here really think this guy knows his pic is posted on some web board with dialog referring to puke? Can you believe the depths they will stoop to? Would anyone here do that? I wouldn't even do that. (But maybe I will from now on.)
I don't mind that they like their stupid haircuts so much, I don't even mind that they try to coax others into buzzing their heads, but how can anyone excuse the obnoxious venom they display with post such as these and the underhandedness used.
Also the "WEBMASTER" banned some baldies cause they were "taking over". This butthead sounds like a flaming a**hole with serious emotional problems and a tyrant to boot.
Paul
wow Paul it is sick that this dude gets a kick out of long hair shaved bald. This dude is just messed up for doing that perioud!
I really don't like the buzzboard at all.
I mean at first I really didn't care at all what they were about.
But a while back someone there used one of my pictures and made up some story about it. It really made me angry that someone went out of their way to do that.
But yeah it's pretty messed up.
I don't complain about anybody's hair long or short (I have long hair) but why do some of the short haired men like to complain about us??
it is not thier hair so why do they worry about that?
