Hey guys
I have a question, Do any of you take Vitamin supplements to keep your hair strong?
I been searching and found some products like Vitaplen, that gives you the right balance of vitamins to keep your hair in good condition.
My hair is in optimal condition and my diet is really good (no fast food lol) but I want to have an extra protection but I've been a person that takes this kind of products and I wanna know if they are safe or just leave it to nature?
Hi there,
I don't take any at all and leave it to nature and I've not too much to complain about. I'm sure vitamin and supplement market is great for some people and for people that do take this pills.
Cheers,

I take Spring Valley Hair,Skin & Nails Vitamins from Walmart 3 times a day. It seems help keep my hair shiney and I don't get any hang nails. As for my skin, I don't know. It seems like maybe my hair is growing a little faster but it's summertime and I heard somewhere that your hair grows faster then. Oh well. Tommie
I'm a little leary of the vitamin thing. Vitamins are helpful in
many circumstances but some tend to overdo it. If your hair is
fine now and you eat right etc then why mess with a good thing.
Taking more vitamins won't necessarily give you extra protection.
Too much of some vitamins can be harmful.
If it ain't broke don't fix it I always say.

Yeah, I found they compensated for bad hair care routines to a substantial extent, but I got the same effect once I learned how to care gently for my hair and had quit taking the vitamins.
My nails did grow faster with the vitamins, though, and maybe my hair did, too. This mattered more when growing it out than once I got past the awkward stage, giving me less reason to pop the pills. I've never been one to subject my system to pills unless I have a pretty good reason to.

I agree completely.
If you have a healthy, balanced diet, you shouldn't need supplements unless you have an underlying medical condition, and some vitamins can actually cause a lot of damage, including hair loss, if you overdose on them - which is easy to do if you take supplements as they're often at concentrations of many times the RDA. If you don't need them, don't take them.
If you eat healthy, then you need to analyze what you eat. The only thing I would take if your hair looks healthy, but more importantly you FEEL healthy would be the following.
1 B12 or B complex
1 Vitamine C (Eat an orange or some dark greens. For convenience sake the pills are not horrible.
1 Vitamine E (Which is just good all around for your body
1 Omega oils
Now all the things I mentioned besides the Vitamine C and E you will get in fish. Fish is one of the highest quantities of the B12, and Omega oils. Some people just don't like fish though. Flax seeds also have Omegas!
Overall, Ill echo the others thoughts about health. The vitamins I suggested are all good for your body functions anyhow, so taking them would not harm you at all.
