I been growing my hair for 29 months now and I always used a plastic conair plastic brush seems to be working good, but many people are telling me that the boar bristle brush would work better for me and make my hair softer so I am wondering what kind of boar bristle brushes is best for thick/wavy/curly hair? any comments appreciated thanks guys!
I use a wooden comb. As for he boar bristle brush..Id not bother.
I have the same hair type as you. I would use anything that does not tangle the hair, but a boar bristle brish will help draw the oils through your hair, but if you already have an issue with frizz or poofyness then it's not going to be desirable.
Alternative would be to use the wood comb (as wide a tooth as you can get) and then use your fingers to comb the rest. It will help keep the wave in you hair, and also deposit oils.
Waivy hair in my experience does not actually like brushing.
thanks dude ill try that! :)
No problem mate. Seriously. Just got out of the shower now, combed with a wide tooth wood comb to detangle. Gonna let it air dry with a little leave in conditioner, which I finger combed through. Air Dry and you are set to go.
Cheers!

I'd like to add a little more to what Dougboy and jonalbear have already said...
It was jonalbear who said to me once that a boar's bristle brush is good for "finishing" (I hope I'm quoting him correctly about this - LOL), --- because it helps to distribute the natural hair oils down the hair shaft to the hair ends.
As far as for myself, my favorite brush for stimulating my scalp happens to be a wooden brush. I use the boar's bristle at the very end of a brushing session, though.
Just for clarification: I do NOT brush my hair "everyday", --- I only do a thorough dry-brushing whenever my scalp feels a bit itchy, but not bad enough to go into the shower for a thorough shampoo. I guess on average I brush my hair approximately every OTHER day, or about 4X a week max.
My grandmother's generation used to advise to brush "100 strokes" EVERY day. But, back then most long-haired women didn't shampoo all that often (and there is little or no record of long-haired men, or what they did)....
As far as curly-haired guys (and gals, too), those that have posted here have mostly said that brushing has apparently done more damage than good to their hair. I think of my own hair as "wavey"; but, compared to truly "curly" hair, mine is rather strait then, I guess (the only part of me that is - LOL)!!

PS - One thing that usually happens to my hair after brushing it a long while is that it's often straighter than if I had just left it alone, --- go figure!
