Hi everyone.i'm richard, 24 yrs. old, from the philippines. i just wanted to ask how many months will it probably take me to have long hair? i am currently wearing a spiky hairstyle and i would like to change my hairdo.i am really hoping i could grow my hair up to my shoulder and have it rebonded.i am just thinking if long hair would suit me.your comments and advice would be greatly appreciated.thanks a lot.
Hi Richard and welcome to MLHH! Your hair looks nice and I'm sure it'll look very good when long! To reach shoulder lenght I guess it'll take 1 year and a half or so...I might reach that lenght in 6-9 months. Good luck and enjoy the board and yourh hair growth journey!

Hi again. Thanks everyone for your inspiring remarks. I'm already sick and tired of having short hair. I feel i'm not in my true self right now because I have short hair.
I wish I could bring back my hair as long as it was 4 years ago.I had to cut it off due to school(longhaired students are suspended).now im already out of school, and I would like to dream again of reaching my goal of having long hair.
I wish I would arrive at that stage of 9 months. I still remember I was able to grow it long before but I had to CUT it down because of the school principal's reprimands.
Thanks a lot for inspiring and giving me advice.
"...how many months will it probably take me to have long hair?"
How long is long? It took me 4 years to hit the middle of my back!
After a job change and head shaving it is now past my shoulders in about two years, but then I'm old enough to be your Grandpappy. Take care of it, keep the junk out of it and brush it every night.
Have fun with it,
Respectfully,
Butch
Awww, I couldn't help but adore that one :-)
Hey Richard !
Well it depends on how fast your hair grows. I have a friend who has bone straight hair which grows pretty fast and he grew it to shoulder lenght in about 1 year...soo you maybe one of those few lucky people who grow their hair faster. But the average growth rate is half an inch per month. It may not sound like a whole lot but a year from now you'll have 6 more inches of hair.
I'd guess 18 months until you reach shoulder length. Just a guess. Also, don't trim it.
Forever if you keep asking.
LOL,yes you hit the nail on the head with that statement Steve. It's almost like being on a long road trip and the kids keep asking..."Are we there yet!".Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Way to go Steve! What a great way to inspire those who want to grow their hair out!
I'm telling ya man,if I was a short hair that is exactly what I would want to hear. After that impressive comment from you I would probably get a buzz cut.
Paul
I can see how you might take it that way. I should have expounded on the idea a bit. The intent was more like "a watched pot never boils" as opposed to "quit bothering me with your questions".
It's been said that "on the Internet, nobody can hear you being sarcastic". Perhaps we should add "nobody can hear you being philosophical" also.
We do need a better link to the RAQ, don't we? I was going to say a link to the FAQ would have been unambiguously helpful; but then I checked it out and didn't see general hair FAQs... just board FAQs.
However, the second paragraph of the FAQ page has a link to the "links" page, which is said to have that information.

I know it is frustrating that a person keeps being asked the same question but I agree with paul that is a bit rude. If that was said to me I would feel a bit rejected and hurt but like the philipino said it was his first time and he does not know about the Q&A board.
Sorry for sounding like a jack*ss steve but words do effect people in many ways and not always for a good way.
Your friend (both paul and steve)

Hi.It has been 2 months ever since I got a haircut. Well, I could call that as constructive criticism because I have learned a lot from it. So I'll just look forward in having hair as long as my shoulders on which my ears are covered.
I was successful before in growing my hair some years ago, but due to my parent's advice, I had it cut off. I really regret those times going to the barber shop. I also liked short hair before but I'm tired of it so I wanted to change the way I look.
I'm also growing my moustache and beard too and planning to wear round glasses..lol
Thanks a lot for the support. I'm going to post my pics once there are any improvements.
Regards
Richard
Hey Richard, welcome to the hyperboard.
If you don't trim your hair then it will take 18mths to 2 years to get that longhaired "look".
BTW, you'll not get any smart*ss remarks from me. I'm glad you decided to grow it and I wish you luck.
Paul
At least not for a couple of days anyway. LOL
It's been so long since I was in the stage your in that I can't even remember how long it took me, but around the 18-24 month range is mathmatically correct IF (as Paul said) you don't go in for any trims. By the way, don't mind the smart*ss comments, we do get alot of the same question here over and over so it gets tiring for some...including our fearless leader. Ain't that right Mr. President?
