Hello I am back
I was gone for a long time because I had no enternet now I have braodband and I will be posting more frequently
How do I keep rat nests (Tangles) out of my hair. I do not like "natural" haircuts :D
Before the other smarta**es post, give us a general description of your brushing routine. (Brush or comb, how often, etc,) Also if you could tell us (or better yet post a pic) how long your hair is currently and how you generally wear it. Do you use conditioner? How often? Give us more info or all your gonna hear from the smarta** patrol is "brush your hair"

hello
I have curly hair just barely passed my shoulders I I brush my hair when I remember to do so (I try to do it every day
I usea shampoo/conditioner
Ok thanks, that gives us a little something to work with. Lets start with the shampoo and conditioner. First thing reduce your shampoo usage. I might shampoo once every two weeks or so, other on the board here will tell you twice a week. Test and see because everyones milage will vary. But shampoo does dry out your hair making it more likely to tangle. Secound, condition the heck out of your hair (preferably every day) several times a week. When dealing with long curly hair you have to keep that stuff brushed out often, but brush just enough to ensure you currently have no tangles. By often I mean no less than twice a day, but preferably 3 or 4 times. When your hair gets long enough to tail it in multiple hair bands this will become less of an issue, but since your hair really isn't long enough for that yet you will need to brush often to keep things under control. You will notice however that reducing the shampoo, and increasing conditioner use will reduce the instances of tangles as time goes by. This time last year I had issues myself, but just changing my shampoo/conditioner habits as well as multi band tails and braiding more often has made a huge impact. I can't remember the last time I had even a small tangle now. Now I realise you can't do to much with braiding/multi band tailing as of yet like I did (my hair falls just above my belt) but you will see improvment over a period of time by doing what you can do now.

Welcome back Birdman! I don't know what you mean "natural haircut", I don't like any haircuts!
If I don't bush or comb daily and detangle with my fingers occassionaly, my hair will start to dread up. I think a little jojoba oil may help also.
