Hi everybody,
My name is Mike (32) and I'm a longhair and proud of it.
Frist of all, I have nothing but respect for the people of this board. It has brought me solace and continued perseverance on my darkest days.I've had long hair for the last 10 years and I will not cut it off for any reason It is part of who I am ( Ya, I know its cliché here). I spent most of my life fighting for those who are "different" And get pushed around for it; after all I was one of them. (This makes me a troublemaker somehow)
I no longer comprehend why anyone would be willing to cut off their hair they spent so much time and effort on; it feels like a knife to the back when I hear such cowardice.
By the way Paul KMF where do I sign up for the Longhaired revolution?
Hi Mike,
You are welcome here and great to have you aboard our community here. When you get a chance you should post and update picture as I'm sure it would be a great inspiration to others growing and maintaining their hair. There aren't too many of us here that have had longhair for 10 years but it's great to see.
I know what you mean but everyone has the calling to keep longhair for as long as some of us have here and they get a call from the "celestial being" to change it!
Welcome again.
Cheers,
John.B
Hi John,
here's a recent pic... I'm not as Photogenic as most.
Very cool, plus, The Haunted is one of my favorite bands haha. Seen them live 3 times and they never disappoint.

Wow, really impressive hair, it fits you well!
-Andrea
thanks man, yours is great as well

Great picture post Mike, as Andrea said your hair suits you well.
Most people don't like their picture taken. My wife's family ducks behind something whenever I'm in the room with a camera. I have to sneek up on them to snap a photo.

I am glad you have joined us and we look forward to following your progress.

Welcome to the mlhh EE Mike! That was a very nice intro but a pic would have been nice to go along with it.Certainly your hair must be amazing after 10 years:)Also, I like your dedication to the longhair cause as your post would have fit in well with the thread below.Cheers

Hi Mike, glad to see new, enthusiastic faces here on the hyperboard!
I have a MySpace thing but in truth the longhaired revolution is everywhere in our day to day lives. But I would say that the best place to meet and exchange ideas is right here.
I believe you simply have to speak up when you see or hear something negative about men with longhair. Defend others, even strangers, who are put in a situation where they're being singled out because of their hair style. Don't just ignore it, most people see that as a sign of weakness and when they get by with it, they really have no reason to stop.
I'm not saying bust somebody's face for a rude comment, just make your opinion heard. Speak up and try to make the hair haters see how ugly they're being.
It's really easy on the internet, anytime you see a post about how someone hates longhair on guys... perfect chance. Others will read it as well.
One of the big problems is, as far as subculture groups go, longhairs are the most individualistic group there is. The only thing we really all have in common is the desire to grow out our hair. As Bill says, "it's like herding cats!" Lol. There is very little camaraderie among us.
Unlike some, I think it's perfectly ok to acknowledge another longhair irl. A nod or funny statement like "alright! another hippie!" or "you planning on growing it longer?" can let them know you appreciate and relate without them thinking you're coming on to 'em or something. Lol. Think of it as saying "cool shirt, man" or "where did you get that jacket?"
I'm collecting things on my profile such as retorts to "get a haircut" and links to interesting sites. Check it out and tell me what you think.

It's Only Hair
hey Paul
Us longhaired men are like long haired cats. We shed hair but not loose our hair. :))

Hi Mike and welcome.
It's great to see posts like yours it makes my day. Longhair is
a passing fad for many but lifers are few and far between as
well as people who are passionate about it. We need more like
yourself.
Long live Longhair and down with evil barbers, and they are evil
just check out this barber in a nearby city where I used to live.

Hi Mike,
Nice intro (and nice pic below, too)!!
You speak very eloquently and communicate your ideas extremely clearly, --- it's a pleasure to have you join us here at MLHH... speaking of which: WELCOME!!!
- Ken in San Francisco
Thanks Ken,
I've been waiting for the right time to say Hi to everybody and after the last depressing post it seemed right. I'm not much of a people person over the last few years I've lost almost all my tact (I just say whatever I felt which is not the best way to keep things civil)
