Three days early :)
Here are pictures of before and after my trim. I trimmed only the back to get rid of the longest layer and to begin working my way to waist length hair at all 1 length :)
The trim only took about 2 inches of hair. I may cut another 2 once I reach the 24 month mark. My aunt did a very great job!
I think I scared her into not cutting much off! "BE CAREFUL" "Only 2 inches!" "Don't even touch the sides or front!" hahaha I had her nervous :)
Any comments and opinions greatly appreciated!
I love the curls!!! Very nice.
Thank you!
Gee, I have natual curls too :)
Birdman
WOW great hair!! Some people would kill to have even half the curls there you have and they look great! The trim looks great too! My hair is even a bit wavy today for some reason LOL Maybe the weather has rubbed off on my hair bit. Your hair looks great! Keep up the great work!
Thank you :). I get asked if my har is permed, lol. But, it's natural of course.
LOL that's cool! Well natural looks great. Hope your doing goodand had a great weekend and have a great week. Longhairedone Steve!
because your hair had a most unique natural V shape to it in the back, the likes of which I had NEVER seen before on such beautiful curly hair. It was amazing, elegant and completely fantastic!
(Oh well, I suppose a trim is a trim.)
Thanks for your input. I started from a buzz so my hair naturally formed a V and I have natural layering as well. I didn't the vshape, I even thought about it fo 2 weeks and just went for the trim.
Ah well, it'll grow lol.
Hi Adam. Curls, curls, lots of curls. I am definitely attracted to curls in ones hair. My hair is curly too, although you have a slightly more curl. Nonetheless, it is wise to avoid trims when growing out ones hair, although you wanted a more uniform length. Hair forming a "V" on the back looks good as well as uniform length, and my hair is like that. I suggest you wait till your hair is two inches past your desired length before getting another trim.
Thanks MattM! I'm definately not getting another trim anytime soon!
Wow your hair looks beautiful and although I'm not a fan of trimming I must admit the trim turned out nice!
Thank you.
Thanks a lot! I'm happy with the trim, but won't be trimming for a long time now :)
Whilst I don't favour trims the 'V' shape which can arise in the first phase of growing is better removed when you have some length.
Your aunt did well and though you have lost some it still looks wrong.
I envy those curls - a good lesson to those with curls who think long hair is not for them.
I also think I should have waited until I at least reached 24 months to trim but I got too impatient.
Thank you. I think long curly hair looks great myself :D
Hi Adam !
Your hair is looking fantastic as always. And it seems to grow fast. I also think your aunt did a great job ! I like the way your hair is now, even tho I also liked the V-shape ! In my opinion, you won't need a trim anytime soon, atleast for one year.
Luben
Hey Luben. Nice hearing from my fellow hair twin hahaha.
I won't be trimming my hair for at least another 16 months :)
Post an update soon! and thanks for the nice comments.
Your hair looks really good, so curly!
I wouldn't have trim it, I liked the way it looked before.
But it still looks nice, now stay away from the cursed scissors for a loooong time!
-Andrea
Thanks! I just felt I need it since my hair in the front is down to my mouth... just felt soooo uneven!
I will not trim for another 16-24 months :) and when I do trim it will only be an inch or two!
thanks again.
Looked amazing before the trim!
Cheers,
John.B
Thanks. And, coming from you that's not biased at all, is it? :)
Thank you and not at all. I speak as I find. I still think it's the time of year or something in the water with all these "t" posts...eh trimmers!
The alignment of the stars, the position of the moon. Yeah, it's got to be something.
Daniel
I don't see why it's such a negative thing to trim? I mean, my goal is all one length hair like many people here. I didn't trim because others told me to or to "tidy up".
But, ah well. I guess I'll just be part of the minority here LOL
It's just a friendly jab. I'm probably the most anti-trimmer here (having not had a trim in 11.5 years, not even for split ends) and although I personally won't trim for any reason, I do support you in doing so IF that is what you truely want to do. However, I will take a jab at you or anyone else when there is an opportunity to do so. (and not just over ones chosen hair style) I am an equal opportunity offender. Many others do the same. It's just that since this is a long hair board that long hair issues is the most prevelent to recieving friendly jabs. However, trimming does slow ones growth rate to reaching your personal long hair goal.
As John so elloquently puts it time after time;
eh, trimmers.
Daniel
Haha. It's all in good fun then. I agree any kind of trimming slows you down, but I plan to not trim after my hair is all at one length. I say my goal is waist. But, hey I may go terminal ;)
Well seeing as trimming is frowned upon by most users in this community... you know, people tend to stick to "don't trim!" even if the person's goal is to have wasit length hair all at one length...
For example, Jason has all one length hair and has trimmed during his long hair journey...
YET, you and a few of the non-trimmers are suspiciously quiet, LOL. because he moderates here?
It just seems like trimming seems to make someone less of a longhair?
I think it's the influence of Aliens.
Or even the Celestial Being.
Kevin
Actually, I agree with John.
Of coarse I'm not biased either concidering that I haven't even done a search and destroy on my hair since uh, um, oh heck, it must have been a previous lifetime.
Daniel
Reasons:
1.COP-OUT "to-be" Longhairs that really have NO INTENTION WHATSOEVER of growing-out their hair but appear to "want attention" from board members. We have seen this alot here and have had our time waisted over and over again through the years to the point of the Puke Bucket.
2. Trimming because the person is conditioned by society to "think" that he MUST get a trim. (Most likely brought-about in the awkward stage.) The person appears to be afraid to even be seen on public! :-0 Hey - The pathway to being a longhair can continue a lifetime this way. A most pathetic trap it tis. Or perhaps that persons little "game(?)" so that he can post over and over and have the SAME THINGS SAID A HUNDRED TIMES everytime he does so by members of this board.
3. Showing trims (or even worse, long hair completely sheared off)to a board who is pro-longhair only to receive similar comments that accompany these most deadly demonstrations of chop-chop bye bye hair. Is this REALLY needed(?) YES! That person wanted to "shock us" or is begging for a reaction. Little better to do I guess.
4. So it can grow all one length. (Jason is the expert here on this one, having done it with much thought and achieving GREAT SUCCESS! He remains our ONLY LONG HAIR HERO who had a definate long-term trim plan.) Otherwise...........and I hope not too much of a shock to hear what you may not want to hear............long hair is NEVER ALL ONE LENGTH! NEVER-EVER!!! It goes through a continus growth cycle, making such an impossibility! Trimmers, get real! Remove yourselves from your kiddy sandboxes and hide not your heads under your tin pails.
5. Not knowing what the person really wants. (This so often the case in all phases of life.) Alas, and not to be helped.......but many of these people no doubt end up with couch sessions in a shrinks office. (They have a medical disease.)
6. Trimming when needed:
a. Goal has been reached.
b. A "dusting" so that the ends are not too wispy and cause for severe tangles.
c. For the purpose of split-ends so that the hair will grow at its best.
7. Otherwise guys, look around at all of the super success the so-called heros of this board have achieved. They had NO TRIMS! They washed and conditioned as should be. Even-ups? HA! They never had a one, and yet their hair (by visual observation) all appears to actually BE EVEN and looks great! One need not look far for a recent example: Hegg being at the moment one who has followed the NO TRIMMINGS...........and look at what he has achieved! Sensational!!! Good job Hegg. :-)
All of this perhaps of some amazement...........eh trimmers???
A little trim here,
a little trim there-
for what does it matter
if you ever get there?
But where is where
and who is who-
of a post to this board
boo-hoo, boo-hoo, boo-hoo.
More fool those who continue to bite for the bait.

I would probably be a number 4... This is my first trim since the 16 months from my buzz cut. I DO plan to trim later on but only so the hair "appears" to be at one length.
All of you have inspired me to not trim my hair for another 2 years. :) Now if at the 2 years I still feel like having all one length then I will trim! otherwise I won't!
Guess Im one of the few people who think the trim turned out good.
I still havent trimmed mine and it has the natural v, but that v can look a little weird on curly hair because the rest of it is so full.
Like the results. Im surprised that someone cut hair and didn't completely screw it up (has ALLWAYS been the case for me) It looks fuller and better. Just my opinion though
~Jarvis~
Thanks. I agree, the natural V, for me, was only a couple of strands and made it look thin.
Now my hair will grow out fuller and even :)
My aunt is amazing at cutting hair. I had to scare her into not screwing with it like most people. But, now I know I have someone there when I need a trim.(which wont be often)
Thanks again Jarvis.
Hey Adam,
Your hair looks fantastic! Awesome curls.
Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with (very) occasional trims, and if you want your hair to all be one length, there's only one way to do it :). Keep it growing, I can't wait to see what your hair looks like as it gets longer.
Ben
Thank you! and I do agree with what you said.
Stand by for the next update! lol
That is some nice curly hair you have there Adam.
Kudos to your Aunt for being careful and respectful of your request.
Looks great - Onward and downward!
- Oren
Thanks Oren. Definately!
Hey Adam,
There's no one right way to achieve longhair. As you noted, I cut the back until I achieved all one length and then let it all grow from there.
I think your Aunt did a great job though I have to say with the incredible quality of your hair, it looked fabulous before as well.
I think trimming is a real hinderance to achieving long hair when any of the front hair is trimmed even a little during the growing out process. It's one thing to trim a bit of the back every 6 months to a year as against trimming repeatedly throughout the year.
Jason
Thanks Jason. I didn't trim the front at all. I probably won't even touch it with scissors for the next 2 years.
Well at the very least you trimming a total of 4 inches will push your goal back about 8 months. If you don't mind waiting.
Good luck
Kevin
Thanks.
I just want to say a big thank you for all replies and comments and opinions as well!
I may have gotten carried away replying to John and so I apologise for making a big deal about it.
Anyway, you guys have inspired me to go 2 straight years without trims whatsoever. I may even keepit untrimmed after 2 years. AND may let my hair grow to terminal :)
Thank you all again.
That's the spirit! Now you got me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. :) But ah, be careful what you put up here, we might just hold you to it. lol
Daniel
Hello
this is just a joke. I know that some people want to trim thier hair from time tio time and thats ok with me.
But here is a goofy song that goes to the tune of Run Like Hell by Pink Floyd
Run Like Hell
you better hide you hair up in your baseball cap
with your button down mouth and decieving eyes
With your poker smile and your long haired heart
feel the anger rising from your long haired past
with your tattered nerve and your your hair expose
You have scissor cutting down your door
you better run
you better run all day and run all night
with your longhair hidden in a ponytail
if your going to a barber shop just for a chat
You better hide that hair well out of sight
if they catch you with long hair of any kind
They're goona send your hair back to mother in a cardboard box
You better run
hows that for a good joke LOL
Birdman
hahaha. I like it.
Your hair is AWESOME!
Thank you
