My hair is down to about the bottoms of my ears, and I keep it shaved underneath the long part. Recently, he long part has been flipping up in the back, and the only advice I get is that it's the way I'm combing it. Can someone be more specific please? It looks very foolish..

Let you're hair do what it wants....let it go in the direction it grows (towards the floor).
As your hair gets heavier it will straighten out by itself and not flip up. I also found that if I try to hold the hair down, a couple pop up. Let all the hairs pop up and it looks better.
