Ok, finally, next week I'm planning to go to a salon and get my hair dyed from red to my natural color, black. :D
I'm also trying to stop myself from wanting to get a trim, I really felt like getting one recently but i keep saying myself I need to wait 6 months, since i'm sure in that amount of time it'll look better. If not, I'll get a trim then.
So here's maybe the last red head pic of me,
wich >.< (it looks pretty red in this one, since I was under the sun)

Hi Andrea,
Natural Hair colour is better. Keep your original hair and date a Redhead instead! (Grins)

Hehe, I've been dating a blondie for almost 5 years. :D I'm crazy for blondes.

Andrea,
I think black hair is awesome! This will indeed look good!
I think so too, but I didn't use to think it 4 months and a half ago, when I dyed it red. :(

Hi Andrea. If I were you it might be better to do nothing and let your hair just grow out instead of subjecting it to more dying.Sure it may look a little strange with that old red still in but it would be an attention getter. If you decide to trim down the road after you get more length then that will take care of that red:)

Although I agree in principal, I'm not sure if I could do that myself though. I've had sun bleached ends before and that looked great (so I was told by the ladies) but I have mostly brown hair. But in the case of Andrea here, who has naturally black hair (which I absolutely love black hair...lucky guy) on the roots with red hair, then later with mostly black hair with red ends that in my opinion is a different story. I have my doubts that I could put up with that myself. I guess the important thing for him to concider here is, what does his gal think about it because she's the one that has to look at the red on black during the next few years.
I don't know anything about hair coloring so I have to ask, does the coloring fade over time? (I'm guessing the answer is not usually, but) If so about how long until the natural color or near natural color returns? If the red will slowly darken over time toward black, then I'd probably just leave it. But if that's unlikey then I would have to admit that I'd probably do as Andrea is planning. But then I wouldn't have colored my hair in the first place but that's a moot point right now.

I wouldnt either

itll fade, usually not enough to get your natural color back

yeah, Id go ahead and dye it, once right now is atleast better than a bunch to keep the red
There is one girl in my school who has one strip of hair that is a new color almost every other day, and that hasnt died yet... Im still waiting for her to come in one day with a big patch of hair missing
I also thought of that but I really want my hair color back as soon as possible since red doesn't fit me and I don't think one last dye will damage it. I wouldn't like to trim it a lot to get the color back, I was only thinking of a future 1-2 cms trim to even my hair a bit. So I'll go for the dye but thanks for the suggestion!

dying your color back... I do nothing else other than read bad comments about dying your hair and how it affects it, Im certainly not long enough to brandish any cute dye or even think about it, but it calls my attention why girls arent as afraid of dyes as men are... my own girl, and others ive asked, while recognizing the dye is harmful and will damage if not conditioned properly, do not do the sign of the cross when you mention dye, like i hear here.. im sure you have already commented about the evils of dying.. but id sure be glad to hear what happened to your hair after you died it.. other than roots showing.. and what "post-dying" care you took .. by the way i like the red look..
I dyed it red 5 months ago cause I wanted a change, but I should have think about it more. Nothing bad happened to my hair after the dye, the only bad thing is the roots showing after just 1 month and I realized red doesn't fit me, I'm a black hair person, everyone said so.
-Andrea
well... but the quality of your hair did not decrease significantly after the dye? id guess you could keep dying it to hide the roots.. but if your color is black then you should go for it.. my question was mere about harmful effect of dyes
Nope, the quality didn't decrease. :) It would have if i bleached it, but i didn't.

Hi Andrea,
I think the dying will turn out ok and will look good. I know everyone talks about damage and suppose that might be true for some of the cheap do-it-yourself products, but salon products should be better than that. My wife goes to the salon every 4 to 6 weeks for a trim and I think every other time is for coloring to rehide the roots. She's been doing this for so long I forget what her natural color is! And her hair is certainly NOT damaged.
So go ahead and dye without fear, (but leave the trimmin' for later!)

Hey Andrea !
I really like your current color. Black/dark roots are showing up, which looks pretty cool in my opinioin. Your hair seems pretty healthy to me, so I think it'll be ok to dye it black.
Anyways I personally don't think you need a trim right now. The ends seem fine to me, so you better wait a few months before considering a trim. But that's just my opinion/advice ;-).
