Hey guys, really nice web-board!
For this is my first post here I want to introduce myself. I'm Jack, I'm 17 and from Germany. Last year I decided to let my hair grow, I wanted it once before but I was forced to cut them. Now they're like ~10 inches and I'm letting them grow for almost a year now.
My issue is that I got very "strawy" hair if you know what I mean. And since I got longer hair I noticed I kinda lose much hair every day. Since I'm not that experienced with long hair. I wanted to know if it's usual if I lose like 30-50 single hair every day? (It may be that it's worse in summer than the other seasons. We got very arid summers in Rhineland-Palatinate)
Greetings from Germany,
Jack.
P.S: I know the picture may be of bad quality, 'cause it's made with my webcam. (When I'll get the good cam of my dad I may use it to make some with better quality)
Hi Jack, welcome to MLHH! As to your question, it is normal to loose 100 hair strands per day on average. So if your noticing 30-50 strands, your probably right amoung the most average.
Again welcome to the board an to your longhaired journey.
Daniel
From a fellow "straw" hair person, I completely understand. The shedding of strands is completely normal. I seem to lose much more than that daily, I've gotten used to it as have my housemates. Haben sie ein guten tag... aufweidersehsen
Jack you've got a pretty good start and it looks real good. I was losing a lot of hair too so I switched to a wide toothed comb and I cut down on how much I brush it. Tommie
Hi Jack and welcome to the community.
It's normal to experience some shedding and 30 to 50 desn't sound all that horrible although I'm sure it's not comforting to see.
Keep growing and take care of it and see where it goes.
Kevin
Jack !
Glad you like the board and glad you have joined us !! Yes, I know what "strawy" hair is, especially in dry weather....it helps if you limit your shampoo use, but use plenty of conditioner (olive oil is great for "deep conditioning", but rinse it well). A tad Jojoba oil also helps. With just a little more length, those curls will relax a bit and your length will show nicely.
Glad you are with us and I look forward to following your progress.
Thanks for Sharing

Welcome aboard Jack as that was a very good intro to the community.I believe you will endure as a success story achieving longhair.Just keep it simple by taking care of your hair and not abusing it with chemicals and such. Some extra conditioners might help with the straw like texture of your hair. You'll have to experiment to see what works best for you.Anyway thanks for the pic as it does provide a good look at where you are hair wise.Do post often and keep in touch my friend.

Hi Jack,
Welcome to the board.
I certainly would not worry about that amount of hair as it quite usual. Just keep it growing look forward to your future updates.
Cheers,
John.B
Thanks for the nice responses!
@Hairball: I don't use chemicals at all. And I don't wash them too often. Like 1-2 times a week are enough for my hair with shampoo.
In other cases I just leave it to the water. (In the next time I'm looking forward to get a shampoo based on natural indirigents)
And I don't use a hairdryer (never liked these things), usually I always like "lay a towel over my hair" so that my room's not getting too wet. But I don't do any abradant actions with the towel - at all I let them dry by air.
@White Tail: At the moment I'm trying it with olive oil (heard about that before but I was sceptical) - I'm using a few drops but it seems to be good for my hair, thanks!
And to the others: Thanks for the nice welcoming!
At all I'm looking forward to let my hair grow until they reach my hip. If they keep growing like the last year/this year they'll next year be like ~20 inches (50 centimeters).
And, to all: Thanks for sharing informations/experiences and pictures.
Greetings from Rhineland-Palatinate,
Jack.

Welcome Jack! You have really good start.
I wish I only lost 30-50 hairs a day! That's not bad.
I look forward to your future updates.
