Reasons:
1.COP-OUT "to-be" Longhairs that really have NO INTENTION WHATSOEVER of growing-out their hair but appear to "want attention" from board members. We have seen this alot here and have had our time waisted over and over again through the years to the point of the Puke Bucket.
2. Trimming because the person is conditioned by society to "think" that he MUST get a trim. (Most likely brought-about in the awkward stage.) The person appears to be afraid to even be seen on public! :-0 Hey - The pathway to being a longhair can continue a lifetime this way. A most pathetic trap it tis. Or perhaps that persons little "game(?)" so that he can post over and over and have the SAME THINGS SAID A HUNDRED TIMES everytime he does so by members of this board.
3. Showing trims (or even worse, long hair completely sheared off)to a board who is pro-longhair only to receive similar comments that accompany these most deadly demonstrations of chop-chop bye bye hair. Is this REALLY needed(?) YES! That person wanted to "shock us" or is begging for a reaction. Little better to do I guess.
4. So it can grow all one length. (Jason is the expert here on this one, having done it with much thought and achieving GREAT SUCCESS! He remains our ONLY LONG HAIR HERO who had a definate long-term trim plan.) Otherwise...........and I hope not too much of a shock to hear what you may not want to hear............long hair is NEVER ALL ONE LENGTH! NEVER-EVER!!! It goes through a continus growth cycle, making such an impossibility! Trimmers, get real! Remove yourselves from your kiddy sandboxes and hide not your heads under your tin pails.
5. Not knowing what the person really wants. (This so often the case in all phases of life.) Alas, and not to be helped.......but many of these people no doubt end up with couch sessions in a shrinks office. (They have a medical disease.)
6. Trimming when needed:
a. Goal has been reached.
b. A "dusting" so that the ends are not too wispy and cause for severe tangles.
c. For the purpose of split-ends so that the hair will grow at its best.
7. Otherwise guys, look around at all of the super success the so-called heros of this board have achieved. They had NO TRIMS! They washed and conditioned as should be. Even-ups? HA! They never had a one, and yet their hair (by visual observation) all appears to actually BE EVEN and looks great! One need not look far for a recent example: Hegg being at the moment one who has followed the NO TRIMMINGS...........and look at what he has achieved! Sensational!!! Good job Hegg. :-)
All of this perhaps of some amazement...........eh trimmers???
A little trim here,
a little trim there-
for what does it matter
if you ever get there?
But where is where
and who is who-
of a post to this board
boo-hoo, boo-hoo, boo-hoo.
More fool those who continue to bite for the bait.
Well said John. tommie
As I already told you, this thread really helps to calm down the urge of getting a trim. :D
Really well said, Master John!

Well Said Justin, it's what many are thinking but have not put to words. You have done that very eloquently.
Thanks John for bringing this back I must have missed it the first time around.
Kevin
Always glad to be of service Kevin....eh trimmers!
I still have Wahl's if you want a proper trim!!!
That would be me...not for appearances, but for ease of care. See me, in good light, snipping splits, one at a time.
What is it that someone responded to the age old question? (How do I get long hair?) "Don't cut it."
Hey John
Thank you for finding this response I had left several days ago and reposting it about all of the "I'm going to get a hair cut....even-up or trim" posts that have esculated so much in the last several years on this board which is interested and devoted to knowing about LONG HAIR and showing updates as well as giving advice to guys growing out their hair. Now really, how exciting is it to hear "I just got a haircut?" WHO CARES??????? So, what are we suppose to say? Hurray??????? Of course,MANY of these type of postings are merely to get "reactions" out of our members so as to receive the "begging and pleading" comments of don't cut. But then the most absurd of all, that being the great unveiling show-off photo of the new short haircut. Absurd! MLHH is NOT about short haircuts!
I find it most interesting that I have yet to hear ANY of this idiotic talk on my "Musique3579" YouTube Channel with all of the longhair videos I have made......and done so in such a crazy way at that! LOL Guys there are supportive 99.9%+ always (the very few exceptions coming only from the pious religious trying to save us all.........from what I still have not figured-out.) and I can tell you right now a ton of guys all over the world are right now growing out their hair with NONE OF THIS TRIM, THINNING-PUT, LAYERING OR EVERY 2 MONTH HAIRCUT CRAP TO EVEN THINGS OUT! (Just read all of the comments to these videos if in doubt.)
Thanks again John for reposting my thoughts which were really a thumbnail sketch........but enough to give valid reasons as to this boards general view for the REAL longhair and NOT for those playing games to just use up our time.
Take care-
Justin~
I understand where this hardliner list of rules is coming from, but honestly, you have to figure in the fact that not everyone has as strong of a want to be a longhair as some others. There are other circumstances that may lead them to cut their hair without feeling like a failure, and yet here it seems that you would simply relegate them to the "Cop-Out" bucket, making you want to puke, as you have stated. Usually this message board has seemed like a pretty welcoming place, but it seems more exclusive and, perhaps, elitist than I had originally thought. Why not just support and try and help and understand those that go through several trims, or are on their 3rd, 4th, or 10th attempt to grow out there hair? Everyone's life isn't like yours, so I think everyone would benefit from being a little more laid back and taking one of the other poster's advice: "It's just hair!"

*If I'm overreacting or didn't take the post the right way, please let me know. I really do enjoy this board and intend to stick around, but why the hostility?
What you may not understand is we take it serious so much so we dedicate a forum to Longhair for men. You may feel it's exclusive and well that's in the title. It's not that we don't support those growing I can point to a mountain of evidence that we do. The thing that gets many is the tendency of some to post for the sake of yanking our chain. If one isn't serious about growing their hair as some aren't then don't expect us to take take them seriously, and in that vain some may have a subtle go at them.
What the post above says is many of us get frustrated and annoyed after a while and the reaction is only natural.
Some say we're too harsh, some say we're too soft, others feel we're right on the mark. If we were really exclusive and hostile we would see other forums pop up and thrive. Others have poped up but not all of them thrive and some have failed because they were too extreme one way or the other or simply not well run.

Hey Kevin
Beautifully expressed and thank you so much for posting what you have. Right on target. Perfect!
Hope you are having a nice evening. :-)
