When my grandson was twelve his mother, a former hairdresser and barber, kept his hair cut in a military style. To add to his "nerd" image he wore "grandpa" glasses low on his nose. On top of all the deragatory remarks he from his classmates and peers concerning his image, he placed in the top five percent on the college SAT at age twelve. To be called a "queer" was the kinder of the remarks he had to live with.
When he could no longer take the unkind remarks from his peers, in regard to his appearance and superior intelligence, he bugged his parents to have contact lens. He then refused to let his mother cut his hair.
Now at the age of fifteen and with an impressive head of shoulder-length hair, he is among the most popular boys in school, with girls elbowing one another to get his attention.
Remarkable what long hair has done for his image.
And he's still smart I bet.
This is the kind of story I think we'd all like to hear more of.
Paul
Great to hear that, as it could also have been the other way around.
Anyway, as for being smart. I think there are enough prominent smart longhairs, especially in the computer and IT industry to debunk any allegations that long hairs are dumb.
Heck! This messaging board system was developed by smart longhairs on this board, wasn't it.
