Hey, been growing my hair for roughly 5 months now. It's looking great on the sides and the fringe. However, at the back, it's doing a mad curly thing, and it looks like a curly mullet.
Now, there's a difference in length of maybe 1-2 inches between my sides and the back. It isn't looking very pretty, and having a mullet at high school isn't exactly the coolest thing ever either - plus I hate mullets.
So, would you guys recommend I get it trimmed slightly at the back so that it looks slightly more evened with the sides, or bare with it. Keeping this in mind, I'm not wanting ULTRA long hair, so the length of time I need to wait doesn't really bother me. I'm thinking about half-way down my neck in length.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I was avoiding the curly mullet stage for about 10 months by having the back trimmed while the top caught up, until the back was maybe 1-2 inches below where the top came down to. It kinda worked for a while, but the last 5-6 months or so I haven't cut anything. The result... a 4 inch long curly mullet! It seriously looks like ass these past couple months, but I figure it's best to just put up with it (not easy!!) and get it over with. Hopefully in a couple more months everything should be long enough to pull back, and with the back longer already, it won't look like a little stub of hair once I do.
Yeah if you want to avoid the mullet look, get it trimmed on only the very bottom at the back. Besides if you're only going for half neck length, then it won't be a problem cos you're hair will start to take shape at around the 10 month stage and you'll notice it start to look how you want.
You're going through that "difficult stage" we all have to endure.
Whatever you do don't cut any of it. Grease it down, use straightener on the curly part of it, braid it, stuff it under a cap, anything other than cutting. Cutting anything will just prolong the difficult stage, and the attending emotions.
If you really feel the need to even things out, wait until you have some length to work with. Its worth the insanity. Hang in there.
