first time post here all though i have been reading posts on here for some time as i have been growing out my hair for 18 mos now. Took a picture as i am going to start a long beard or long goatee and wanted to get some feedback as to what may look best. thanx Scott
That's an awesome growth, it looks really good. Keep it growing, it'll look even better when longer! And I think a long goatee would fit you very well. Good luck!

Looks good now but you can always grow a full beard and if you don't like it cut it off. Tommie
Your hair looks great! What target length are you aiming for?
aiming for as long as it will go, its still growin at a good rate so hopefully at least to waist.
Don't shave or trim your beard for at least two months to see where you get growth and how thick it is. This will give you a better idea of what you will have to work with.
On a white guy, white hair does not show up as well as black hair, so you'll need more white hair to have the same effect as a less amount of black hair. This is one reason you need to let it grow out a bit before deciding anything.
Once you see where you're getting growth, then you can decide where you want to keep it and how long you want it to be. Then as time goes by, you may get the desired length and you may not. Every man has a limit to how long his beard hair will grow, and this "terminal length" limit can vary on different guys from an inch to two feet.
You may also find you can get more thickness and length on your chin than on the sides of your face, and how this looks may affect your decision.

I actually think that the two (Long hair and Beard) makes a man more manly. It's a strong bold look if you can carry it off.
i do tend to agree with you on that, i hope i can carry it off

I prefer full beards to a goatee. You should try growing all of your facial hair out for awhile to see what it looks like and then decide.
