I posted a long time ago about self braiding but didn't thought about it for a while. Today I decided to take the plunge and I'm proud to present my first self braid!
Looks nice!!! Wish I could do that.
Hi Vincent,
Looks like a nice first attempt at braiding as I've never even gotten that far.Looks like you could have gone further with it but what the heck its only the beginning.Remember practice makes perfect as the saying goes my friend:)Cheers
Mark
You've done better than I did and I watched Jason's self braiding video I don't know how many times but my hair just wasn't cooperating.
Kevin
Just keep practicing at it, you'll only get better at braiding from here onward.
Daniel
That's a nice start, now keep practicing and you'll master it!
Hi Vincent,
What a great job on your first try, and congratulations to you on doing this! Also, I cannot get over the outstanding thickness and shine in your hair.
Keep it growing,
David
Thats a nice thick braid Vincent, I braided mine but was really surprised how thin it was and therefore didn't look very good.
cheers Dave
Looks great Vincent - congrats!

Hi Vincent,
Looks great for a first time and do keep practising.
Cheers,

Sure looks nice Vincent, wishing my hair was as thick as yours.

Thats one killer braid dude.. I like it even more than more elaborate ones, looks very informal and cool... kudos!
Looking at the photo of your ponytail, I like how your ponytail form a twirl near the end.
Matthew
Looking good. That's a great start. A bit of practice and you'll be able to braid the whole length. It looks as if your hair's about long enough to need to be brought round to finish the braid which will be your next challenge.
I actually noticed a difference in hair length after I started wearing a braid most of the time because the hair doesn't get snagged up in things and the ends don't dry out as much either so there's less breakage.
Thanks everybody for your comments, I will keep practicing!
Braiding gets easier as hair gets a bit longer (my opinion, at least), --- and your braid looks AWESOME!!!
A long-time friend of mine gave me a tip on self-braiding that I still do to this day: once your hair gets a bit longer, tip your head upside-down to finish the lower part of the braid. I simply bend at the waist, then tip my head forward, letting my braid dangle down in front of me (pointing towards the floor as I complete the braiding process)... it makes it more comfortable to do, --- and I think is easier than bringing the half-done braid to one side in order to finish it.

Thanks for the tip, once I get there I will absolutely try both methods and see what's the best.
Hey just saw your thread. Your hair is looking great and the braid is awesome.
Awesome braid Vincent, your hair looks in excellent condition too!
I've tried braiding a couple of times and I find it useful to project in my mind the back of my head, as if I had eyes back there. Then, deliberately slow, I cross one side over the middle, then stop and think before moving on. I try to put all other thoughts out of my head, putting me in a higher zone, never rushing. It may sound crazy, but for me it works.

Looks awesome! I also decided to do a self-braid today, gonna post the results soon.
