Is there any way of getting rid of split ends without getting your hair cut? I just got my hair trimmed a month and a half ago and I don't wanna trim it again.
Brett,
You might try Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Breakage Defense conditioner.
I have used this product with good results.

Hey Brett, you shouldn't be bothered with split end yet! If your hair is long enough, pull some forward and take a look yourself. Use a magnifying glass if you have to. Don't let anyone try to convince you that you need to trim every 6 weeks to stop split ends. They operating on some old wives tale and have not even looked at your hair. They probably have never even closely examined their own hair!
Stay away from the trimmers and ignore the so called experts!

Whenever I see some split ends I just grap a sharp pair of scissors and snap them off individually. Just grap your hiar and look through it to find the basterds.
I've grown my hair without trims the last two years and only the last couple of months I got my first split ends.
Well I've only been growing my hair for 9 months so I'm gonna have to wait a while until I can do that. I'll probably just wait another month and see what to do then.
For the sake of not slowing down my hair growth, I wouldn't do it. The last two trims I had had impeded my hair growth a lot, and I came to learn it isn't worth all that effort... Not in my case anyway...
Snip! Snip! It's called search and destroy and we've read hundreds of posts on it. Of course you could buzz it all off and start over, we've read hundreds of posts on that too or so it seems.

Cut the dead hairs 1cm above the split end and try not wearing your hair open all the time because it looks so cool. ;)
Well trimmers...over to you!
Why are you being all so sarcastic to him? O.o
Jeezzz.
Hey Brett, I don't think there's a way to get rid of the damn splits without trimming. Except some shampoos and conditioner wich tell about fixing the splits...but I don't know if they work, I never tried 'em.
If you just got a trim last month I suggest you leave it alone for at least 3 months or so and ignore the split. You might decided to trim later, 1 cm or so.
How many cms did you cut last time?

I'm my humble experience of growing out longhair I would just wait and let it grow and see it looks at least after a year. We all get split ends and that's just part of having longhair. I've seem many heads of longhair and everyone will have the odd split whrther they like it or not. Kevin gave some good advice and do the search and destroy method.
As many people know my opinions on trimming. If people are that aghast with my views my all means come beat me up privately.
My simpleton view is that if you want longhair just let it grow. I have splits but I don't worry of have nightmares about it.
Cheers,
John.B
I agree with you, John! And yes, Kevin's advice was useful, but I don't think it's nice to be sarcastic to a newcomer. But maybe it's just me. XP

Some call it sarcasm some call it humour everyone see's it differently. Besides we do read hundreds of those posts and we'll read hundreds more.
Kevin
Sorry? :P
Don't worry I won't beat you up for getting a trim.

I got about half an inch cut off and I was gonna wait until at least march to get it trimmed again, but I guess it'll be a lot sooner than that :( I'll probably get about an inch cut off.
I would just ignore the splits for now. As your hair gets longer, it should look better. If you get splits really often, then you might want to change your hair maintanance routine.
I'm 13 months into growing and I have never had a problem with splits.
Hope that helps a little.
Luke.
Hmmmmmmm.........quite the puzzle for the day. Perhaps "sand-down" with 0000 Sandpaper? But of course one would have to be careful not to hurt the sandpaper. :-)
Conditioner is the best protection of all.
Definitely don't get all of your hair trimmed, that would be a waste of the ends of your mostly perfectly fine hair. What I would do is single out the offending splits and cut them off right above where the split starts. If you leave them they'll travel up the shaft and will be more prone to tangling and breaking. That should take care of it, but if you find you're having a lot of trouble with new splits forming you might want to reevaluate your hair care routine.
