Hello guys !
A litte update on me. I'm now in Trondheim, Norway since the beginning of August (almost two months !) and I love it ! I met new nice people, foreigner and some norwegians (my three flat mates are norwegian. Two of them are very nice, but the third, strangely, doesn't speak at all; weird guy). I also visited a little bit the region of Trondheim (I and a friend went by bike to the see : 100Km ! We also made a lot of hiking trips). I don't have a lot of courses in the university, so I have a lot of free time to do what I want, that's nice.
As every people I met come from a different country, we have to speak english. I swear that french people have an awful accent. But it seems that some people find it nice :)
On the bad side, the weather is really shity. I mean, really. See this photo ?
Well, nice, hmm ?
About hair now, here are two photos of the face (really sorry for the silly face...) and the back, braided :
Some of you may remember, I had a big issue with Alopecia areata in the back of my head. I cannot see clearly (I only have one mirror in my room), but it seems that the bald spot slowly disappear. The area is really thin and some places lacks of hair, but I think it's a huge improvement. This probably due to the mixture I apply each day (oils & essential oils). I expect some new hair in the next months.
As usual, in the autumn, I shed a lot...
Oh, and there's some fabulous longhair here in Norway. Especially in a metal concert (the band "Hail" was in Trondheim few weeks ago. Kind of supergroup of metal who plays covers)
Thanks for reading this loooong post !

Vivien
Whooops !
The first photo should be :
But, the one I posted shows you perfectly the beauty of the country. That was during our bike trip.
...It's another beautiful day under construction!
Salut Vivien!
Norway looks very nice, I'd like to visit it someday.
As always your hair is looking great.
Peter
Thanks Peter ! It's nice to see you here :)
Your hair looks great. The braid looks really nice too. I just assumed you were being sarcastic in the first picture until I looked at the one that it was supposed to be. Haha. Good to hear that your hair is filling in where it was thin before.
Thank you Garth ;)
Hi Vivien,
It's great to hear from you and I'm glad that you are enjoying your time at university in Norway. It's certainly a beautiful country for walks and bike rides and in some places very "changable" weather!
Thank is very encouraging and positive news about the bald spot and it looks like the treatment is working and I'm sure you are glad about that. As ever you have a great head of hair and of course a master braider as well.
Hope the studies are going well and keep in contact my friend.
Cheers,
John.B
Thanks for the nice words John.
Yeah the weather is really "changeable" : it's due to the coastal climate of Trondheim
Hey Vivien!
I think your hair looks really cool! It's lenght is amazing and so is the color. The beard's looking awesome too, I suggest you to keep it growing, it really suits. :D (Both mane and beard XP)
I'm also glad to hear your bald spot is disappearing, i felt sorry knowing (and seeing!) that bald spot in your latest update.
-Andrea
Hey Andrea. Thanks for the comment.
As for the growing, for the hair it's almost a no-brain question :) For the beard I still don't know how I want it...
Hi Vivien,
It sounds like you are enjoying your stay in Norway. I think it's a good thing to go abroad from one's own country and see the rest of the world. The scene of the fjord is certainly beautiful, and the rainy picture, well it rains on everyone every once and a while!
I think a French accent is very nice to hear. It is fun to hear anyone speaking English, or whatever other language, with their own native accent. It's interesting that English is your lingua franca though.
And, though you are a Frenchman, you look positively like a Viking in the photo with your hair and beard. Magnifique!
Matt B.
Thank you very much for the comment, Matt ;)
Of course, the english is our language, since few of us, foreign student know norwegian, we even speak english with the norwegians. I began to take language courses, though.
Vivien
Salut,
Waouh quel changement dit donc !
Thanks for the update.
That's an awesome progress, you have got wondurfull hair.
The beard is also very nice, how long did you grow it and how long do you plan to grow it ?
A bientôt mon ami.
François
Salut ! Merci ^^
For my beard, I just don't know how long I took for growing like that, since sometime I trim it quite short. The last time was maybe, 3 months ago ?
Vivien
Hi Vivien,
Thank you for stopping in to update us, and I am glad that all is going well in Norway! Although the weather may not be the best, there is a true beauty in that far away land, and perhaps I will get there some day.
Of course your hair is looking fabulous these days, and great job on the braid too!
Take care,
David
Thanks a lot David :)
Vivien
Hi Vivien,
Really good update. I'm glad the treatments are working and slowly new hair will appear, Killer braids by the way.
I'm glad things are going well in Norway and rain or no rain it is beautiful up there. I'm sure you'll work on your accent when speaking English. LOL I've been told English is a very difficult language to learn and master by non native speakers so
I'm sure we can cut you some slack.
Good luck in school and have fun.
Kevin
Thanks for your comment, Kevin !
Maybe it's not so difficult to learn english. Much more to master it !

Vivien
Hi Vivien,
HA!You really had me going there until I saw the corrected photo regarding the weather.lol.I figured you were being ultra picky just because a few puffy clouds had the gall to break up that beautiful blue sky.I have to admit I hate rainy days like that too as it is very depressing.Grrrrrrrrr.
Sounds like you are having a great experience otherwise at University and having time to do fun things is a plus.Your hair looks fabulous and that braid is tremendous.Glad that the thinning problem is subsiding a bit for you.I also have experienced a lot of shedding the last month which seems to be the case this time of year.In spite of that my hair still looks the same with no thinning. Thanks for posting you update and NO, it was not too long.I'd personally like to see more comprehensive posts from you with lots of info:)Keep up the great work my friend.Cheers
Mark
Thank you Mark. Yes, big shedding always happens once in a while (unfortunately :))
Vivien
Thanks for that wonderful update, Vivien.
You have added a lot of length since your last update. The rain looks pretty good to this desert rat and your adventures make me wish I were young again and able to bike tour Norway.
Many years before your parents were born, my parents were returning to the U.S. from Oslo on a TWA Constellation when my mother went into labor with me!! Made it to New York City where she was rushed to the nearest "facility"....which is how I happen to have been born in the New York Sanitarium ! Ha ! True story and I have always felt "almost Norwegian"....
Good Luck in your studies and keep enjoying your adventures.
Walter
Born on a Connie! (almost)
Dude.. as a pilot, let me extend you my respects.. lol. you would have been so lucky to be born on a connie, (lockeed constellation).. to be true one of the sexiest planes ever, and really, lockeed's masterwork for-EVER
Born in a Sanatarium....
That explains a lot doesn't it.....(grin)
You knew that was coming of course, and would expect nothing less from me. HA!
"...Born in a Sanitarium....
That explains a lot doesn't it.....(grin)..."
I wasn't sure whether it would be you, John or Justin who would jump on that ! Ha !
Wow Walter, and how I agree with you about those bike rides. (Vivien: take advantage while you can and let that wonderful long hair of yours be seen blowing straight-out in back of you as strands of gold in the sun!)
But back to you Walter, if only when we met I had known about your birth. Story has it as my mother was being RACED to the Hospital, there was such a hurry that she entered a brick building named "Beliview" which she believed to be the place. Apparently a dr. with a birth defect (having two heads) delivered me...........but then the strangest thing happened: According to both parents, the next morning NOBODY was to be found in that building! My Dad always claimed it looked as if everyone had jumped throught the windows at night. Strange isn't it.
So, they brought me home with no instructions and I hear that my 1st solid meal was Roast Beef and Twinkies. OMG.........mother sure knew how to plan a meal.
If I ever see you again Walter, I'll have to tell you the rest and am so interested in how you yourself crash-landed on this Planet. Amazing times we have lived through.
Take care-
Justin~
Almost ! Haha :) Nice story, Walter, and thank you for your comment !
Hey, Vivien!
Very nice photos! The landscape photo looks amazing. I hope you're enjoying your time out there. I don't mind French people's accent at all, I have a close female friend, we talk on the phone all the time and I've pretty much forgotten it's there. Then we speak French and MY accent comes out :S Ha ha. Your hair looks amazing! I always thought your hair was really nice, these photos definitely show that. Your length is fantastic, the color is cool, too! I'm happy to hear your bald spot is disappearing, that's great news. You deserve to have such awesome hair. Kudos to the braid, looks perfect. Thanks for the update, Vivien!
Coming over to France in June :)
Hegg
I enjoy, for sure !
So you can speak french ? Hope you'll be able to come. Maybe I will be there in june too.
Vivien
Oui, je parle français. :) Definitely coming! Let me know ;)
Hegg
Great update Vivien!
Glad to hear things are going well way up north in Trondheim.
Your hair and beard are looking very nice - great length too!
Also, good to hear that your scalp condition has improved.
- Oren
Thank you, Oren :)
By the way, do you plan to update your website ? It used to be a great collection of photos back in time.
Bye
Vivien
Hey Vivien, glad to hear all is well with you in Norway, the mane's looking good and nice job on the braid.
Checked out Hail!, not a bad sound. Hair-wise favorite Metal bands of mine are After Forever, Nightwish (of course)and Fejd, Fejd is Viking Metal from Sweden, really cool sound and fantastic manes. Take care.
Hi ! Thank you ;)
I just checked Fejd : not a bad sound. Nightwish is amazing of course !
Cool to hear about your Norwegian adventure, I hope to visit Norway one day.
I hope so ! It's beautiful country. But I guess the whole world is beautiful :)
Fantastic update Vivien. Your hair just keeps on growing and is a huge inspiration. I'm very happy to hear that your alopecia is improving.
Norway is beautiful. I had hoped to visit that country in 2007 but it didn't work out. Hopefully one day.
Take care,
Jason
Thanks a lot Jason :)
Hi Vivien,
Great update there, --- and that pic of Norway is breath-taking!!! Here in California, it's dry so much of the year that rainy climates look very appealing to me. We only get rain during the months of November, December, January & February. Occasionally a little rain in March or even into early April; but, that's usually it.
Your hair looks FANTASTIC!!! And I'm so glad to hear that the Alopecia problem is diminishing.
I hope you have a great year enjoying Norway!
Take care, --- and happy hair-farming!!
- Ken in San Francisco
Breathtaking, yeah. And almost the whole trip was like that !
Thanks for the comment, Ken !
Bonjour Vivien! glad your schooling is going good and glad you like Norway! such a beautiful country and I would love to visit one day :) Your hair is kickass dude! I am seriously jealous lol and happy that your hair condition has improved, happy growing brother!
Hello Mark ! And thanks ;)
I'm sure glad you are enjoying Norway and the awful scenery ha ha; I think every accent is good--off hand I can't think of one I don't like (give me time to think about that) maybe because all are different and therefore interesting and exotic to me.
Good news about your hair. I would love to visit Norway--the people I have met from there are fun to be with.
If you have trouble understanding something written in norwegian you can use google translator which is fairly good at http://translate.google.com Examples of this sentence rendered in French and Norwegian below

Hey, I'm able to read and understand the first part of that ! :)
Thanks Rob !
Vivien
Wow Vivien, you catch on with languages fast!
Rob
Amazing picture of the Norwegian landscape Vivien, and your hair is absolutely superb.

Your hair is gorgeous, Vivien. You have great length now. It is good that the alopecia is going away. Hopefully it will never return. Norway looks like an interesting place, but too cold for me.
Scott
Vivien,
I'm glad to hear that studying in Norway is going well. the hair looks great!
