Hi all you long hairs out there :)
IÂ’m a 19-year-old guy from Denmark and I thought I wanted to share a song with you!
One of the biggest and most popular Rock bands here in Denmark is called D.A.D, and they made a song back in 1987 called “I won’t cut my hair”. The title says a lot but it’s about the band not wanting to cut their hair. Their lead singer, Jesper Binzer, wrote the song after his mother asked him to cut his hair. He refused and has kept his hair long ever since. In fact he is the only member of the band who has kept the long hair, so he’s their only reason for playing the song live.
The history of the band:
Four young men formed a group called “Disneyland After Dark” in Copenhagen back in 1983. They called the genre “Cow-punk” because they all listened to punk music in the late 70’s and because they wanted to make fun of the American Dream in a harmless way. As they said themselves: “Every little boy has dreamt the dream of being a cowboy”, so they tried to mix punk/rock with country music. But after the two first Lp’s they started to change style and they were moving towards genuine rock/ heavy rock.
After one EP and two full length Lp’s, 1989 arrived and they released their most successful album, “No Fuel left for the Pilgrims”. The album contained the smash hit “Sleeping my day Away” and they signed a 1 million dollar contract with Warner Music. They toured the world for about a year until their next album “Riskin’ it All" from 1991. Warner didn’t like it, so the deal was cancelled but they stayed popular in Europe and especially in Denmark and Scandinavia.
In the early 90Â’s The Walt Disney Company forced them to change their name to D.A.D .
Through their career they have kept their beloved mascot/logo; a cow skull named Molly. Back in their cow punk days, somebody got the idea from a Lucky Luke comic strip and sheÂ’s always hanging behind them on stage and she has appeared on all the album covers.

Mikkel, Interesting story. Your choice of thread titles reminds me of the lyrics from the title song from the "Original Love Rock Musical", "Hair". It goes. "Oh oh, Say can you see! If you can than your hair's too short."

LOL, I love it!
