I'm turning in an application to mcdonalds. My dad told me you had to cut your hair to work there a while ago. Does McDonalds allow long hair? They're one of the only businesses hiring around where I live.
Best Wishes,
Josh
I'm in Atlanta and I've seen a guy with long hair with a ponytail working there. I've seen a lot of longhairs working at a lot of locations.
not Sure about Mc D's but Wal-mart Hires guys with long hair(and im not required to pull mine back), there are 3 at the one I work at......
Don't think so. I used to work there for a couple years with a few longhaired co-workers. The fast food industry is pretty recession proof since they have such a high turn-over rate.
My bad dude, I misread your message. Yes you can have long hair.
Hey Josh
I have never had anything to do with McDonalds personally, but I DO know this: A very nice young man college student in the town I live has worked for at least 2 years at the local McDonalds. While at work his hair is in a bun and he wears a net. (Just as do the woman.) He has told me that others working there rib him about it..........but still, he has the job and WAS HIRED with long hair. Best of luck to you Josh in getting the job! :-)

It all depends on the manager at the place you apply. There are 2 McDonalds where I live. One is fine with a guy with long hair and another with a swastica and cross tattooed on his forearm and his sleeves rolled up. The other won't allow long hair or tattoos, or even girls with painted nails or hair that he doesn't like. I hope your guy is one of the poeple that realizes hair does not affect work ethic
I've worked at the Burger King for 6 years and always thought you couldn't have longhair if you worked there. Once I had the courage to just grow my hair I haven't heard anything about it. I worked there while growing my hair for 2 out of that 6 years.
But I guess it also depends on the management. Just apply there and if they want you to cut your hair don't work there.
Before I moved to Buffalo NY I lived in Lynwood Washington and I got a job at the Mac Donolds
I was supposed to trian as a cashier but they they had me do cleaning jobs and they tried to get me to cut my hair before I would work as a cashier but I quitted that job for a different reason.
Washington is a rough place for a longhaired man to find a job. You can't even grow a tail for a professional job. but some places do allow long hair on men like the head truma residence plane in Lake Steavens. there was a long hiared man as a nurse and a janitor there with long hair. I should have stayed there as a nurses aid when I had the chance to work at Micky D's

I think that just using a hair net and keeping your hair clean, there is no problem.
Or would them force women to get an buzzcut?
Josh
Mcdonalds does not require short hair. I worked there for three years (16 till 18) with 3 other Longhairs with no problems. Also I recently stopped in at a different Mcdonalds and there where longhaired guys working there. however you will have to have it tied back securely for your safety. there are a few chain stores that are longhair friendly (they don't care if you have long hair)taco bell, pizza hut, KFC,burger king,Home Depot, Target, Kmart, even Walmart are the ones that come to mind.
best of luck
Mike
Hi Josh,
I've often seen long-haired young men working at McDonalds throughout the USA - long hair should be no problem.
I see quite a lot of long haired males in food service here in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area.
Best of luck with the prospective new job!

Hi Josh.
I worked at the local Micky Dee's about 20 years ago and I do remember being told to cut my hair. I was not long out of the army so my hair was just starting to grow back out.
It wasn't long after that I quit. Not because of the hair policy but they tried to make all the employees park their cars across the road because the big chess was coming down. Idiots.
I suggest finding somewhere else, it's a crappy job anyway.
Paul
I would, but it's really the only place in my area that's hiring right now =/
Thanks to all the replies, I'm sure it's the management that will require haircuts. I recall seeing one guy working there with mildly long hair, but not my length. A friend of mine who works at Chick Fil-A said you can't have longer than shoulder length hair to work there, so I was concerned the other businesses didn't allow it.
Thanks everyone, I'm filling out an application tomorrow and I'll see how that goes.
Best Wishes,
Josh
Hi Josh, remember, shoulder length or waist length can look the same if in a bun and under a hair net or company issue hat.
Good luck!
