This is spirit week at my school, and usually I don't care, but today was decade day and I couldn't resist that. So, I did....
NOTHING!!!
I allways look this way, minus the jacket when it gets too cold.
Aside from that, I was pretty happy to see a ton of people in tyedie and/or a punk look today. But I was still the only one to find a way to combine the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s all into one person without actually trying.
They're hard to see but I've got 3 braids here. The one over the bandana, a rope braid behind that (but its kinda small and you can't see it very well in the picture. And I have another 3-strand on the front left.
Its also about 32 months in. Consider thismy way of showing off my style, my fall update, and a post with correct punctuation (which this board really needs right now).
Peace
~Jarvis~
Looks excellent!
When you do those tiny braids, do you just leave the ends unsecured and it stays? How often do you have to redo them?
Also those glasses are super cool. :)
Peter
I just do them once my hair is mostly dry. I wake up @ 7 and am done my shower by like 7:10. after a good bit of towel drying (towels have pretty much taken over the role of shampoo for me) I shake my hair dry for a couple of minutes and its basically dry by 7:45 then I do the braids before I leave ten minutes later, or I do them in my first class. Its physics and we don't do much work so I have that kind of time.
And yeah, if you braid it down far enough, like a quarter of an inch left, it stays pretty good. I maybe redo them once, but most of the time they stay fine.
Thanks, I got them off ebay from list4you online. And I got the shirt from happylife productions, which I found through this site's links.
Thanks for the compliments,
~Jarvis~
Really nice Jarvis and suits you so well. (But then again long hair has a way of suiting just about everybody well.) Guess it's Mother Natures wish.
Keep it growing!
Justin~
Thanks, and yep, some people think we should cut it. But biology and history say otherwise.
I think long hair makes more styles suit someone too. The professional look is still very achievable, but you can also pull off hippie, pirate, metalhead, punk, or whatever else you need at the time. Just like my teashades, they don't look right if you have short hair, but you can rock em out with long hair.
Thanks,
~Jarvis~
Ah but you forget you can't pull off the redneck look very well with long hair can you now? and if you can pic please, it would amuse me.
Hmmm, you can get a mullet, or maybe a rattail.
how bout any picture of Willie Nelson, David Allan Coe, Billy Gibbons...
And I dont think its THAT far off from the hippie look, just turn the tie-dye into camo, add a cowboy hat, big belt buckle.
You can still get the cool old redneck look, just not the new asshole redneck look. The new redneck is really just like new 'rock'. Its just people taking themselves way too seriously
Awesome look! I had a room mate a while back that dressed like that almost all the time too. He was know for throwing "decade" parties, especially the 80's. He was also a longhair, in fact I may see if I have pic of him dressed up like that if you want.
Keep it growing, the hair looks great. I dig the little braids too. Havn't seen anybody rock those since Kurt Russel as Capt. Ron.
Yeah, if you could find a pic that'd be awesome. No problems with the keep it growing part, its not near long enough.
I've been doing the braids for about a month now. As I said in another post, I usually have time to do them every morning, or sometimes I just leave the same braid in for a couple days and just move it when I brush my hair. Im not sure what inspired me to start doing other than just show off the fact that I know how to braid my hair. Hopefully soon Ill get the 4-strand down, I can kind of do it now, but not very good.
Thanks for the input,
~Jarvis~
Fantastic !
Thanks for Sharing

ok, maybe there was some text here...
Way cool Jarvis!
The hell with looking like one of the sheep in the herd! The right to free expression is what made this country great.
It's great that your school doesn't have some pinhead rule about how they what their sheep sheared.
Keep it growin'!
Bruce
It is great, Id like to see them try to make me cut my hair. I also found out that they won't say anything about wearing a bandana. And Im DEFINATELY not just another sheep. There's way too much of this american eagle shit around. I may become just one of the sheep though. As I've been explaining how I feel about a bunch of things why I dress the way I do (because I want to.) I've been able to change a good number of peoples minds. So atleast I'll be in a good herd.
Hell Yeah,
~Jarvis~
No problem being one of sheep, as long as you're the head ram!
Bruce
Groovy, far out, and definitely out of sight! AWESOME LOOK, MAN!
Bill
words that I use all too often.
Thanks,
~Jarvis~

I love the look. You have that late 60s hippie look done perfectly.
Scott
A little mix of the looks of 60s hippie, 70s metal and punk, and 90s grunge and hippie. Mix in a hippie/transcendentalist point of view and you have me.
I learned a new word today,
~Jarvis~
Your hair looks awesome Jarvis! I really like the braids, and the 60's hippie look is just plain cool. Screw whatever the hell society thinks we should look like!
I especially like the glasses, they remind me of Ozzy.
Luke.
Damn straight. I still find it funny when people that I've known for years think that I take hippie as an insult. Thats just about the highest compliment you can give me! Everyone says either ozzy or lennon because of the glasses, I can think of Chris Robinson, Howard Stern, Janis Joplin, Slash, some guy at ocean city, and some guy I saw at a farmers market who also wear them. Just to name a few.
Thanks from the hippie,
Jarvis
Last year my school had a special day where you could dress up as one of your favourite singers, and I went as John Lennon, and I bought a pair of sunglasses similar to yours. I get many Ozzy and Lennon compliments as well whenever I wear them. Its awesome.
Nice, I actually finally decided to buy them because of seeing Chris Robinson wearing them. I have another pair of sunglasses, but they suck and I might as well throw them away. I got these from list4youonline on ebay which has alot of different color and frame options. Now I just need to find some bellbottoms that fit me. I've been wanting them for a while but can't find em unless they're on ebay for like $200.
As for favorite singer, it's gotta be Shannon Hoon for me followed by Chris Robinson.
nice shades,
~Jarvis~
Hey Jarvis..
The look is great.. go with it; it suites you well..
Tristan
Thanks. I've been going like this for the past couple months or so. I'm still not sure why, but overnight sometime in august I just snapped, stopped giving a damn whether anyone else likes my opinion, style, hair, music, or anything. That and I listened to the first Blind Melon CD the whole way through and fell in love with it. I've listened to it the whole way through atleast twice a day since then. That CD is basically exactly how I feel, ...
Really pissed off the idiocracy, lack of culture, and overall ignorance around me. Uncaring about most peoples opinions. But also extremely happy because I CAN feel that pissed off and see clearly.
Now we have a project in English to choose a quote to show how we feel and, even though the teacher won't let me, I'm writing the lyrics to the entire CD on a poster and explaining this whole thing to the class. I think winging it when I go up is the best way to approach it, but I think it's going to be about 30% hair, 10% style, 30% political views, and 20% you people need to realize that you've been taught a good bit wrong.
I've also thought about gewtting one of my French teacher's recorders so I can play it back, and maybe type it out or upload it.
This could go really right or really wrong,
~Jarvis~
What a great look you have going there Jarvis!
I love it! The braids look cool, too.
