hey guys ive always wondered what the best thing to wash your hair and scalp is. for example shampoo then condition right. well i saw a tv show (cant remember what it was called :P) but the main subject (male) had hair about mid-back length and has never used shampoo or conditioner in his intire life and yet his hair is in the best shape i have ever lyed eyes on, he only uses water every day and then air drys it.
does any one here do this.?
is this the best way to wash your hair?.
thanks - dave
I'm trying to train my scalp to do this, I haven't used either since monday and my hair still isn't greasy so I can keep going. About 2 months ago I was using shampoo every day, now I'm at almost a week without it.
It works,

Dave,
I don't have any hard evidence saying this true for everyone. I have read all the raves about no shampoo etc... but have yet to meet or see someone that doesn't use either or products.
MHO, I think it depends what kind of hair you have, scalp condition and your overall health.
Shampoo & Conditioner certainly won't hurt anything for most people but here again, depends on your hair type, scalp etc... If you want to try the no shampoo thing. My $.02
This works for some people. I am if I keep up with Water Only (twice a week, with associated preening) it works pretty well for me...if I drift off to once a week or less, it gets to a pretty stable point where it still looks decent, but is a bit heavy...I can do catchup washes, or if I just don't have the energy, I'll do a very dilute shampoo rinse (definitely not a thorough wash) and go on.
For me, the biggest benefit of going off shampoo was a scalp that simply wasn't irritated ALL the time. If my scalp would put up with it, I probably would wash with shampoo occasionally, but it doesn't, so I don't.
If you do go to WO, expect an adjustment period (of weeks or months) before your scalp adjusts and stops producing so much oil.
Anyway, works for me with thigh length hair.
