Hi everyone: Some members have advised against ever getting trims when trying to reach your goal length. I tried following that advice after deciding to let my hair grow to waist length. However, a recent pic convinced me it was time for a trim, even though I was still about 10 inches from my goal. (My hair had developed very raggedy ends.) So, I had them trimmed off by a very careful and reliable stylist. I like the appearance a lot better and I think my hair will continue to look better as it grows now. (At least I hope so.) This was my first trim in well over a year, maybe closer to two. I'm posting two pics -- taken ten days apart, wearing the same shirt, but in two different locations, so you can see the before and after effect of the trim. If anyone is having similar appearance issues and likes the results of the trim, let me know and I'll post my trustworthy stylist's contact info. She's in Southern California and is (1) very skilled, (2) not scissor-happy, and (3) gets the fact that long haired customers don't usually want much taken off. She listens.

Your hair is absolutely gorgeous. While many here don't like trims, in your case, the results are incredible.
Scott
We look forward to the second picture and to make a comparison :-)
Cheers,

Perhaps when he gets home from work.
(oh no not again) LOL
Kevin
Ha ha. Actually, I though I had posted both, but only the second one showed up in the first post. :)
Hi Jann,
Your trim went very well indeed, and your ends are very thick and even. With hair like yours, you should have no problems achieving your goal.
Keep it growing,
David
That looks fine.
You clearly have someone who understands long hair.
First off, your long hair is gorgeous! But second and most important is the fact that you went to a person that for once actually knew what they were doing. Consider yourself very fortunate indeed!
Keep it growin- :-)
Justin~
Looks fine to me and as the others have said you have a well trusted stylist. Now you can let it grow to your goal length :-)
Cheers,
John.B
Your hair looks a lot better and healthier after the trim. Your stylist did a good job.
Now just let it grow to your goal since your ends are nice and healthy.
I cringed when I read the title because I really hate those "I got a haircut" post.
After seeing the pic I think it's great looking.
Paul
Wow, a scissor jockey that doesn't go nuts. I still don't trust em though ;)
It looks good after. I think the before pic is better, but thats probably just me liking a more natural... everything!
Looks great.
Looks great Jann, she did a good job. Of course you have perfect hair to work with.
Bruce
It turned out very well, I'm glad you found a stylist who listens to her customers!
Hi Jann,
Congratulations, your hair is wonderful!! I really like your look and I hope one day to have the same length. When did you start to grow out your hair?
Have a nice weekend!
Hi Jann,
Thanks for your reply and your support. Great that your goal is waist length, you have at this moment already a sexy look with your beautiful long hair, it is really very nice! Your hairstylist has done a very good job and you have to be proud with the great result. As you know, I am growing out my hair and my last haircut was at the beginning of June. I am working in a very conservative service industry and I don't hope to get negative reactions. What is your job and which reactions do you get from your collegues? What is your advice?
By the way, can you past a picture of the front?
Thanks Jann for your reply and great that you will send a picture of the front. It is a big encouragement for me that you are lawyer and that you get positive reactions. It convinced me as a business man to grow out my hair and your postings are a great support! Keep it growing, wonderful a lawyer with waist length!!!
I think your hair looks awesome Jann! That is about the length I want my hair to be.
I don't necessarily think that trims are a horrible thing. As long as you are happy with the results, that's really all that matters.
Keep on growing man!
Luke.
Thanks, Luke. I like this length, too, but I'm really eager to get to waist length for the first time. Keep on growing!
Hi jann,
After looking at your before and after pics I came to the conclusion that there really was nothing wrong with your before hair.Sure the trim tidied up the ends in making a perfect line but the before hair was just staring to get a nice wave in it:)I know its up to the person how they want to present themselves but if it were I the hair would have been left alone.Thankfully you found a trusted stylist who didn't turn out to be a butcher.Anyway great hair no matter what and I do hope you grow it longer as you have the volume to do it.Cheers my friend.
Mark
Thanks, Mark: Actually, my hair does have a little natural wave, even after the trim. You can't see it in the post-trim pic because the stylist blow-dried my hair, making it straighter. I never do that. I just air dry it. So in the pre-trim pic it has the natural, air-dried look. It has that again today, but at the ends it looks thicker and "healthier."
If it wouldnt be too much trouble i personally would like to see a non blow dried after picture, because i have to agree the 1st pic looks better because of the waves
It's always nice to see great heads of hair from angles and would be great to see fron ther front.
Cheers,
John.B
Phenomenal hair.
~ Dave
Thanks, Dave.
Your hair looks wonderful, it looked awesome even before the trim but now it's perfect. Keep on growing and keep your current hair stylist!
-Andrea
Looks great Jann! Good job with the trim.
Waist-length should be quite doable.
- Oren
Thanks, Oren.
I'm in SoCal - who did you use? I need someone that understands long hair also.
BTY, your hair looks great (before and after).
Jann
I know, I can see that. I saved your before and after shots so I could show my cutter. My hair is about 2-3 inches shorter then yours but that's exactly how I like it cut. I haven't had a cut and some time and have been thinking about how the ends might need a little trim. I know that's a bad word around here but I think you did a good job of showing all trims are not evil.
If you don't mind my asking, how do you wear your hair in the front?
I guess 35 miles isn't so bad if I only get one cut every 18 months or so.
Thanks again.
And I did ask politely twice :-)!
Hi Jann.
I don't see a lot of difference that trim made, apart from the ends being a bit smoother.
Matthew
awesome hair man. It really looks healthy. do u have other pics of ur hair u can post on here?
