I recently promised to post a current pic, so here's one taken over the weekend. Sorry it's so dark, but it was taken using the camera on my phone.
I stopped growing my hair long about Easter 2005 and had my last trim that summer. Since then, the only time it's had scissors close to it is for the occasional S&D for split ends. It's probably at my original goal length, but I want to see how long it will actually grow.
I must admit I'm really happy with how it feels right now. I had enough time over the weekend to leave the conditioner in for nearly half an hour after washing it and that has made such a difference. It feels much more silky than usual and despite being loose for most of yesterday, I didn't suffer the frizzies.
At a party on Friday night, two women told me I should cut my hair because it wasn't fair for a guy to have such beautiful hair. Don't you just love back-handed compliments?
I really should read through my posts before putting them up. Spot the deliberate mistake in para 2. It should read, "I started growing..." Signs of a disordered mind, eh? What the hell, I'm blond. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
Yep, you are blond, must be the reason :P. Very nice hair, braided it looks even better. True viking, I just hope you sport an awesome beard to match that hair!

The beard comes and goes depending on my mood, but the hair is here to stay.
A mini goatee like Magnus Samuelson has would fit great to that hair. :)
Well nothing wrong in having a blonde moment and at least it's natural and unlike some of them out of a bottle :-)

You have a fantastic mane, Viking. I see you are another maximum length guy. Even here at MLHH, way less then half are going for full length. That is a lot of length in 4 1/2 years.
Also, don't let those women get under your skin. They are just jealous that your hair is nicer than theirs.

Ideally, I'd love to grow my hair as long as yours, but I've a feeling that isn't going to happen. Comparing last year's pic with this one, I don't think it's grown anywhere near as much as in previous years, so I think I'm approaching terminal. I'm not complaining though. It's long enough, but not so long that it's awkward to care for, so I'm happy.

Mine is a bit difficult to care for, due to extreme length. It tangles easily, so I keep multiple hair ties on it. It also takes 2 hours to wash and dry.

That's the main reason I plait my hair most of the time. If I leave it loose, I end up with a lump about the size of my thumb on the nape of my neck. It's worse than a tangle on the cat!
My elder sister has more volume than I do, but I now have more length. (Yay!) Quid pro quo in the world of sibling rivalry, eh? I'm still jealous though, but at least mine only takes two hours to dry when loose as opposed to her three hours.
Viking, your hair is outstanding and the length is to die for.If you are at terminal length you certainly can't complain but if you can go a bit longer then that's just icing on the cake.Also love the comment at the party and I hope they were just joking and didn't really mean for you to get a haircut.Thanks for showing your fabulous hair my friend:)Cheers

I'm happy with my hair regardless. I wouldn't complain if it didn't grow another inch, but I wouldn't complain if it grew another six either!
I've known the two women for years and I'm pretty sure they were only joking, although one did say she preferred my hair when it only reached my upper back. Not to worry though, I haven't let anyone else's opinions influence my hair length up to now and I don't plan to start doing so any time soon.

To be honest, I don't view those comments as negative at all. Come on, if a woman tells a guy he's got better hair than she has, it's a definite compliment.
Besides, I didn't mention that the first thing they both did was stroke the mane before saying hello.
What made me laugh though was the looks I got from both their husbands.

I'm sure my skin's thick enough to cope. To be honest, one of them used to have hair like mine and I think she's missing her misspent youth, having to be corporate and respectable now. (She was the one who spent more time stroking it.) Actually, she pinched my bum too, which is something that hasnt't happened to me in years!
wow Viking I been in lurking mode for a while, but I just had to comment on this update. Beautiful long thick hair dude and I am seriously jealous of that length as well lol, I really hope i can reach that length one day as it is my goal length as well and hope your doing good man cheers!

Hi Viking. Looking at your hair, it looks really good, and it does have a bit of a wave to it. It looks like you are getting close to terminal. The picture is light enough for me to see some details on your hair. By the way, don't listen to the women. They are simply jealous of your hair.

Hey Viking. That is some pretty amazing hair. The length and texture look great. I'm sure your hair must fly around when you are dancing just like mine. You probably have better hair then most of your dance partners. I'm sure they are jealous.

The hair can be lethal when dancing. It's actually worse than on the badminton court, because at least then it's usually only myself who gets hit. Some of the men's turns in salsa can be very dangerous. I nearly took someone's eye out at my school reunion in April. And the least said about propelled pivots in Highland and Scottish country dancing, the better!
