I am a beginner at wrestling and in fact today was my first day, like all first days this one will be the hardest for :) running up and down through the football bleachers surely knocked me out... At first of the quarter I did not find wrestling appealing(which is why I missed on all the intramurals), but after learning the strength benefits I can gain by joining this sport, I decided to join. I am a very tall and lanky long hair, in fact I HAVE the longest hair in the wrestling room (No surprise eh). It is pretty cool that my coach does not enforce the buzz cut or short hair, but having the hair in a cap or some type of restrainment as best in this sport. I could get a buzz in a matter or minutes but I would lose my hair and it would take months over months to be in all its pride and glory.
A few days ago I bought my wrestling shoes and headgear(including a skull cap). The darn skull would just not hold, I was thinking about putting pins to hold the darn thing in place or I can just buy another replacement that would suit my luxurious length and volume. So do I put pins on my skully? Or do you know another product alternative that can suit my needs.
Try wearing it in a braid and then put it under the skull cap if you want to. Use gel to hold any strays in place. Avoid any metal clasp or pins, you don't want those embedded in your skin, use those elastic hair ties instead.
The thing is, you don't want your hair in your face during a match. I'm sure hair pulling is a foul.

Actually, Clay Guida (UFC) has shoulder length hair that is routinely in his eyes and is still a pretty kickass fighter. He's currently got a 25-10 record in the ring.
Yeah, he's a true longhair.
Also, Andrei Arlovski has/had (not sure) long hair and is 15-7 right now.
I do love the UFC but don't get to watch it much. Not a real big sports fan you see. I will keep my eyes open for those guys as I was pretty sure that no one in the UFC had hair at all. Lol.
However, high school wrestling is very different from the UFC and personally I would not want hair in my face. Besides, no one replied to this guy so I thought I'd put in my 2 cents.
As for the actual thing, if I feel like I'm about to get into it with some ass in real life one of the first things I do is put my hair up. I feel it's not only practical but it sends a clear message to whomever I'm arguing with and that's the point they usually back off.
I want to make it clear that I do not start anything but I don't feel I have to walk away either, lest you think I run around trying to pick fights.
