Not that we have anything like that over here in the UK, apart from the madness of the January sales. How was your "black friday" experience? From my experience I keep away from them!
Enjoy your "holiday" weekend.
Cheers,

Hi John,
Well let me put it this way.I didn't get online at the local Best Buy store Thursday evening to spend the night so I can be one of the first fools in that store Black Friday morning.lol.I also kept away from all stores until around 4pm when it was easy to navigate around.Hmmmm seemed like any other shopping day:)What was nice to see was a decent amount of store employees with long hair and they were guys!So that mind you made the Black Friday experience a good one and I didn't even buy anything.Cheers to all Black Fridayers

Just another day for me, I don't participate in the madness. Just because something is on sale doesn't mean you need to wake up at 3 AM and go blow your wallet into a woodchipper on something you will never use. Black Friday is just a manifestation of people's greed and ultimately their animalistic behavior.

What an articulate and absolutely true description of the phenomenon called "holiday shopping" in the US! I feel much the same; there's nothing I need or want that would incite me to get out amongst the mad throngs of shoppers.

Avoid black friday...buy mcdonalds gift certs.
Hey John
A lovely Black Friday it was for myself. I went to the beach and the ONLY thing I bought was a slice of Pizza! Business seemed to be brisk as usual, you know Clams, Lobster, Crabs and Fish! LOL :-)
Justin~
I couldn't imagine going to the mall at 3 am to shop. I don't care how good the deal is. I just wouldn't be able to handle all the other crazy shoppers either. With my luck I'd get trampled on.
Pretty good. I spent a couple hours playing guitar, then watched every episode of The Prisoner. Then sat and thought about how much that series scares the shit out of me because it's like watching my brain on TV.
I did not bother hitting those early bird sales. I just stayed in bed.

When black Friday comes I hide under the bed.
Had spent the night over at my cousin's house for Thanksgiving. When I woke up I played ping pong with my 19 yr old cousin Alex for a few hours (and had played roughly the same amount last night!), had metal music of all kinds playing on his sound system in the garage while we played. Then went home later and playing Modern Warfare 2 for awhile and went to bed after finishing off a good book.
So that was my eventful Black Friday.
A day I have historically avoided going out like the plague, but a couple of years ago the Dickens Christmas Fair (combo Renaissance Faire and Charles Dickens storybook stuff), which I work, has decided to open up on the day after Thanksgiving rather than the Saturday after, so I have to get out for that, but I'm not ever buying anything more than an ale or two and maybe a pasty.

Thursday: Had a great Thanksgiving dinner with some local friends.
Friday: Slept in, ate out for late breakfast, went back home and worked on some electronic projects.
Hope you've had a great weekend, too, John!

...spent over 100 miles from any store....loverly !
Thursday:
Crazy Turkey Day. My family and my boyfriend's family came to our house. It was a few firsts. First time the families met each other, and the first time they had seen our house. It was scary, but it went pretty well.
Friday:
I went with my mom to visit a few relatives on my dad's side that I hadn't seen for a while. The only shopping we did was at Wal-mart, late in the afternoon. It was long after the crowds had disappeared, and yet we were still able to find what we wanted. Genius. :P
