These past few months I've been trying less shampoo. I'm convinced washing everyday was the culprit as to why my hair would never behave. I'm currently doing twice a week which is all I can stand for right now and my hair does seem to be doing better.
My goal is too get it down to once a week. I have a dryish/normal scalp and my hair is dry, despite I've never straightened it, dye etc...
How long did it take you to transition?
From twice a week, it took maybe a month, just adding more days in between washes gradually.
Now I'm going for completely natural, see how long this'll take me.
Yea, a month to 6 weeks or somewhere in between seems the norm based on reading I've been doing. When you say completely natural, as in just brushing it and letting the sebum take care of the rest? In any case, good luck with it!
Yeah, just water, a brush, and a towel. Its been 8 days and so far so good.
Cool, it's probably better to do something like that in the winter time since the summer heat isn't around?
Personally I wouldn't try for a specific goal like "once a week". I think just extending it until it feels too greasy or starts to smell is fine (well, that length of time minus a day or two).
For me it took a month or two to properly adjust to shampooing less. I don't use shampoo anymore though, I wash my hair with conditioner ("CO washing", for conditioner only) once a week. That helped me significantly with washing less, and there was no adjustment period from shampoo to no shampoo, but it might be a different story for you.

This is almost exactly the same for me, I only use shampoo maybe a couple of times a year, and then its T-Gel, just to really cleanse my scalp and get rid of any dead skin etc.

I did give co washing a whirl for a good 2 months, wasn't for me. Up until last year this time, I would wash everyday but I didn't know squat about hair care, so I'm sure all that abuse had something to do with it. Might just take me longer to transition.
