Here is a great newspaper article on a longhaired kid and his parents. It's a good article and poitive to boot! The story is from Chicago but printed in the Seattle times. And I do notice many more longhairs in general in the Seattle area the I do alot of other places.

Kate Hudson's son, Ryder Robinson
of course he has hair, hes Chris Robinson's son :)
Good article, I've noticed more, and less, longhair around here. Two of my friends cut their hair in the past couple months, realised it was a mistake, and want long hair again. And I got another guy to start growing his out again. AND my uncle might be letting his grow again.
I know a guy who had really long hair (waist length) and his son wanted to grow his hair to be like his Daddy. But at 9 years old the school didn't like the idea - it was too distracting to the other kids and school - so the kids parents had to "bribe" him to agree to a haircut. They told him if he cut his hair they would take him someplace he really wanted to go. Naturally the kid agreed to the hair cut.
So I assume the girls all had crew cuts too >:(
Where is this school so I can take some matches to it.
Nope, girls had hair as long as they wanted. I felt bad for the kid and his father because the father didn't exactly want his son to be forced to cut his hair, but he also didn't want the kid having any trouble in school. Kinda a catch 22. And believe it or not, this all happened here on Long Island NEW YORK!!
Yeah, thats what I meant. Sarcasm doesn't work well written down. Damn world full of double standards.
Don't forget to call me beforehand. I want to drive. Lol.

Now that's a great article!
Funny I was reading the Chicago Trib the other day and missed it.
I'm slipping in my old age.
I did like how the mothers who were a bit put off at first but
now can't imagine the sons without the hair. Just goes to show
people can come around to acceptance.

That was my problem last year. Since I caused such a fuss they are letting the longhaired boys put their hair in a ponytail this year.
God I hate that whole "bribe" thing.
There was this one guy I went to school with who was a dork. He grew his hair out to mid-back and suddenly he was one of the cool kids. His mom's new boyfriend give him $40.00 to cut his hair. He did. He said he was growing it back but never did.
I have never talked to any kid who goes to school with mine (I have 4 in school) who understands what this "distraction" is. Neither do the teachers.
The only things I found distracting in high school was bullies and girls' skimpy outfits.

Great article... thanks for sharing!

Thanks for doing the clickable link as otherwise I'm much to lazy
to type out long web addresses.

Me too that's why I do copy and paste, however we all know how well that works for me sometimes. LOL

Thanks for this. A very uplifting article, maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
"I hate going to the hair cutter it sucks," Rowan said. "I like my hair the way it is."
Classic.
No one has made a peep yet about my son's hair this year. Even they know it's time to change their stupid policies.

Unfortunately many where I live prefer to remain at the trendy medium lengths of hair in which many consider long, completely absurd in my opinion. There are a lot of naysayers and go as far and want me to get a bowl cut, buzz cut and any type of cut as you can imagine. Wavy, curly kids like me really tend to get it from the crowds in High School.
Either ways this is great knowing that somewhere in this dinosaur ideal wasteland of hairstyles people are starting to think outside the bun and explore the beyond :).
