I always hated windy days!!! :o)
Karen, Yes,who needs snow or rain when all it takes is hair to reduce your visibility. Thank goodness for scunci!
peace, jonalbear
Wind can do a number on hair.
Multiple pony ties, or braids, keep my hair safe from the wind.
Even then, the not-yet-long-enough new hairs on top of my head get a little tangled.

That's great, Bill!
The wind creates a cool effect with your hair and beard. :D
-Andrea
Couldn't stop myself, Bill.
Lol, props on that one.
I said n/t. that means there's nothing here.
Cosmic, man. Cosmic!
Definitely trippy, and a stellar creation for sure!
Bill
Aww, now the next time I gaze at moon, I'll think of him too :-)
Yeah I'm still in the awkward phase so it's just long enough to be constantly in my face but not quite long enough to tie back. I was at my martial arts class today (outdoors) and forgot my bandana. It was driving me NUTS!!!!
I'm not real big on windy days but I do love the wind blowing my hair everywhere.
I find letting it loose in the wind much better than tailing it. Loose in the wind==loose dreds. Tailed in the wind==tangles.
Ahaha, I can definitely relate. If the wind's blowing against me I enjoy it quite a bit, but if it's coming from the side or behind, my hair is up in a ponytail in about 2 seconds.
Today, especially.
We have 8F degrees, and 6 inches of new snow. Blowing winds--sideways here in Bend Oregon. The dry wind does a number on the hair, but the fun thing is that since it is SO dry, the leaf blower whisks away the snow on the walk and the deck!!!
At single digits, the snow is as dry as sugar, and behaves wonderfully.

Love Walking into the Wind, Hate Walking with it.....
ooo yeah I hate when I forget to check the weather and leave mine down, only to have this happen throughout the day....I always try to have it tied back if it's windy....though now I even carry hair-ties in my pocket at all times, just in case!
Cevyn's Lair
Me too and it has been plenty windy where I live today and around 23 degrees! :-0
Sometimes, a ponytail isn't enough!
I can definitely relate to that! Back in '96, I had shoulder-length hair and was letting it grow. One day, after a bad day at work, fighting a cold for a week, walking to the train station on a very windy day, I said 'screw it,' went and had it cut to short/medium length. Now I just put up with the tangles and take the time to carefully get rid of them... :-)

Worst tangles I EVER had were after spending the day on a helmet-less motorcycle ride!! I didn't put my hair up at all - not even a pony-tail - because I wanted to feel the wind. But after that ride there was NO WAY of getting any comb or brush through it. I just went in the shower and dumped a whole bottle of conditioner on it and worked it out that way!!!
----------------------------------------------
Oh my gosh that must have been terrible having to deal with untangling your hair after that motor ride.If I ever did that I'd probably be in tears trying to undo the mess!I trust you were able to untangle your hair that day without too much hair lose?
Mark
Mark,
Yeah, with using all that conditioner I was able to work it all out very gently and taking a LOT of time. I had to experience the "hair loose, helmet-less" ride once in my life. I knew it was dangerous but it was just one of those things you have to experience, and I was taken on the ride as a "birthday gift". He took me all the way out to delaware just so we could ride without a helmet - just so I could experience it once. It was cool!
Hi Karen,
We have a compulsory Motorcycle helmet in all states and territories in Australia. As well as that is it is mandatory for pedal bike riders to wear brain buckets too. Can you ride push bikes in the US without helmets? Just curious. I can understand wanting to experience the wind in your hair and feeling that freedom on a motorbike. Tangles are the curse of long hair!
Best,
Duncan
I always ride wearing my helmet for 2 reasons... 1) it's California state law, and 2) I'd rather be riding tomorrow rather than re-learning my ABCs. There was one and only one time I forgot to tail my hair. It only took one time to learn: always tail my hair before riding! Even with my ponytail, I have to spend time getting the snarls out but not as much time. If I remember, I'll do the "segmented" ponytail, which helps a lot.

Rick,
I know it's dangerous but it was one of those "Have to experience it just once" kinda things. Had to go out to Delaware for it because there was no helmet law there. We ended up at Mike's Harley Davidson. It was a fun day for a once in a lifetime experience. Never did it again due to the danger and the hair!!!
My 05 Ultra. Apologies for the audio quality.
About ten years ago I untangled a friend's hair after he had ridden 800 miles on his motorcycle without having tied his hair. It took me about 45 minutes. The technique that worked was for me to untangle the bottom 3 inches, then the next 3 inches, etc. until the job was done. There was no way he could have done it himself. His hair was too matted, and the guy doing the untangling needed to see what he was doing.
My friend was tired from his long ride, and he fell asleep with his head in my lap as I did my work. That was the best place for his head to be, since my arms would have certainly tired out anywhere else.
Bill
Ah, the seductress wind. It feels so good but can be so cruel!
Bruce
Hi Karen,
Oh yes, I can definitely relate, and I am not a fan of wind either. It always seems to be windy in Nova Scotia!
David
AGREED!! LOL
I can't wait to get to this length... I'm only at 4 months, maybe a couple of inches.
I agree, windy days are annoying! I like it when the wind blows my hair back and out of my face, rather than into it.
It does make a mess of your hair but damn, don't it look cool!
