Its taken three attempts and four years to get the gumption to keep at it, but I've made it to the first-year point of growing out my hair. My goal is mid-back, so I've got a year to go, but its nice to be able to see such visible progress.
These forums have been a great support. I was raised in a very conservative environment and educated in a less than open setting. The resources & encouragement are supremely helpful - I wouldn't have had any idea where to look for information about growing my hair out nor had the perseverance without the fraternity of this community.
Thank you all, founders & contributors alike!

Glad it helped you, as it helped me and countless others here, that is what the websites here for. Good luck growing out your hair even longer if that is your wish.
Fr. Maurer,
I completely agree with you regarding the great support this site has been. I am very new to this site, only growing my hair out now for 4 months... which is an accomplishment for me! My hair is very thick & wavy, so previously I would get frustrated and cut it after a month or two. I can't wait to get to a year out like yourself.
Welcome to the site and keep growing!
Peace,
Kenny
Agreed, there's a great bunch of guys here on MLHH (and gals too Angel and Karen). Congratulations on the 1 year mark.
That's great! We'd love to see pic as well!
Good luck with your journey!

It's always gratifying to know we could be helpful.
I wish you continued success on your longhair journey.
Thanks for your comments.

Somehow back in the olden days of the 1980s I managed to start my journey to become a longhair with absolutely zero support. No internet or mlhh then but I knew what I wanted and did it!I consider myself a rarity to become a longhair that far back and maintain it ever since with no short haircuts in between.I wish you the best on your journey and hope you achieve that dream mane you've always wanted. This site is a great resource as its a dream come true for me:)

Congratulations on your first year point,Father M. It only gets better from here.I agree this forum is very supportive. I am in only my 4th month growth. Happy growing and maybe you will go beyond mid back length.

It does suck to do anything without any support. I've had longhair for a very long time and I kept it when everybody else starting cutting theirs.
Like you, I have learned a lot since coming here. (My hair looks like hair now instead of a twisted bush.)
One of the most important things I learned is that longhairs come in all shapes, sizes and attitudes. No two are anything alike and the only trait we all share is our hair.
It's good to have you.
Paul
Congratulations on the one year mark!
I also have found this community's support helpful when I thought I was the only one around growing long hair at my age and all I had around me were the naysayers.
Keep on growin'
Bruce
