It have been a while since my last update, but I am spacing out my updates to show more length difference between updates. As my hair gets longer, it appears to grow out slower. I have been growing out my hair for three years now, and it had been 22 months since that one trim. As my hair got longer, the curls at the ends became more apparent and stood out more. My hair near the top did indeed got straighter but my hair near the ends showed more curls. Because of this and because of the thickness of my hair, a lot of people want my hair. If my curls were straitened out, my hair would go all the way to mid-back, but I am going to mid-back at least after taking curls into account.

Matt, I am glad you had a grand time at Disneyland!
Looks like you made a stop at LegoLand, too.
I used to visit Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm often when I lived in San Diego, CA.
I love amusement parks and roller coasters!
- Oren
Thanks Oren. I have not been to LegoLand in a decade, so that is out. I just went to Disneyland and California Adventure. I love amusement parks, but I stay away from roller coasters.
Matthew
Looks great Matt!! Very thick and full. Keep it growing :)

your hair looks great Matt! very long and curly, you must be proud of that mane :)

Your hair is looking really good at this length. Nice thickness and curls.

Hi Matt, your hair is really getting long and looks great at this point!I have to comment on your "hood" pic as it cracked me up seeing hair ponied up in that fashion!LOL.Gotta admit it is unique as I've never saw it done like that before:)Sort of having longhair and creating a temporary beard at the same time.I think you may be starting a trend my friend.Cheers
Mark
Hi Mark. The "hood" method would be very useful in cold/rainy weather. Instead of a coat hood, I can use my hair to keep my head warm, especially after dealing with freezing daytime temperatures earlier this month.
Matthew
That's a magnificent head of hair Matt.
My hair has about that same degree of curlyness as yours - especially when dry just after a wash.
Great update - Love 'em curls!
Onward and downward,
- Oren
Thanks Oren. When I see your hair, it looks wavy to me.
Matthew
Matt, Yes indeed, a mane to be proud of. Great color and texture.
Now all you need is to grow out the natural face mask to go with your organic hoodie!
peace, jonalbear
Thanks. However, I shave off the "face mask" whenever it grows in.
Matthew
Looking very nice! I like the curls :-)

You have some great hair Matt.
I've been using that hood idea, but with a bandana. As long my ears stay warm, I'm good. I hate cold weather.
I agree Jarvis. I can handle temperatures down into the low 40's but not much lower than that. By the way, during the second week this month, it went all the way into the teen with daytime highs only at freezing despite bright sun, and that is a lot lower than average. Finally, it warmed up to normal level, except it started raining. I will use the "hood" when I have to go outside in freezing temperatures. I wish to see you wearing a "hood".
Matthew
Wonderful update Matthew. Wow, your hair is so thick and long!
I've done the same hair hoodie thing to keep warm while I take the dogs outside! (and just fooling around)
Thanks for sharing.
Keep on growin'!
Bruce
Thanks Scooper. I just came across it a few days ago, after a period of cold weather in Seattle. You should show us yours when you do an update.

Your hair looks fantastic, Matthew. Curls hide length. It is a lot longer than it looks in this image. Looking good.
Scott
That's true Scott, about curls hiding length. Straightening one's hair is risky, through. On the other hand, curls adds character and attractiveness to one's hair.
Matthew
Cool man, looks good.

Wow your hair is very curly and thick.
Congrats on your 3 year anniversary.
Kevin
Thanks Kevin. I sometimes wish a lot of guys have curly hair like me.
Matthew
Well, your patience is definitely paying off. Those curls/ringlets will only look more amazing as your hair continues to lengthen.
Maybe next update you could take a photo of you pulling them straight so we can see exactly how long your hair is.
Hi Jason. It turned out that the longer my hair gets, the more curly it becomes, contrast to what people generally believe. Pulling my hair straight may be an idea, but it is kind of difficult to balance a camera and pull my hair straight at the same time, plus my longest hair is at the back.
Matthew
Really pretty curls. No need for straightening here. You are very fortunate have such pretty hair. Tommie
Thanks Tommie. Nonetheless, straightening or altering my hair may be risky anyway (think Andrea's hair, for example).
Matthew
Congratulations, Matt !!
Curly hair can be very frustrating, but you have pulled it off nicely with quite a length in three years. I particularly like the bushy ponytail.
Thanks for Sharing
Walter
True Walter. I went through a period of time where it did not seem I am gaining any length due to the curls, but then, curls add character to one's hair. The bushy ponytail is caused by curls.
Matthew
Hi Matt... I think your hair is beautiful! What progress you have made in 3 years. My hair is only 4 months out, so only a few inches long. My hair is very wavy and thick... I'm so hoping it looks like your wonderful hair in 3 years, the curls are fantastic!
Peace,
Kenny
Hi Kenny. People have to start somewhere, and it is true that when you first start, your hair will not be very long. Over time, your hair will become longer, and since it is wavy, your hair should be similar to mine. Thanks for the statement anyway.
Matthew
Hi Matt,
This is a truly impressive update, and thank you for sharing your photos. Your curls are outstanding, and I cannot get over the thickness. Keep up the good work!
Keep it growing,
David
Thanks David. A lot of people want my thick hair. My sister, for example, has relatively flimsy hair, and wish she has my thickness.

Hi Matt,
Thanks for a very impressive update.
You certain have a great head of hair after 3 years growth and it's certainly very thick and full of body and amazing curly and really suits you. Keep it growing and of course we look forward to your future updates.
A very inspiration head of hair.
Cheers,
John.B
Thanks John. I can't wait to see how my hair gets before it gets close to terminal, and to see how much curls my hair is going to get.
Matthew
Your hair sure grew a lot, it looks really good! The curls fit you a lot. Keep on growing it!
-Andrea
Thanks Andrea. I will keep growing it, and see how much curly it is going to get.
Matthew
MAtt.. dude thats awesome... thats about the lenght i am looking for as a goal.. ever anyone ask me whats ur goal.. well.. its that lenght u got dude.... right on! really like ho it curls at the end !!
Thanks kubanpanzer. By the way, I am going to keep groing out my hair till it won't grow anymore. Even though I said mid-back, I am probably going to go a little further. The ends seem to be increasingly curly as my hair gets longer.
Matthew
Hello Matt,
That's wonderful progress for 3 years despite a couple of snags along the your long hair journey. :) I like your hair cloak picture, it's funny. And it illustrates well in pictures yet another example of the versatility of longer hair for keeping warm and well insulated in the cold seasons as mother nature intended it for.
I congratulate you on your progress to "completeness". We are encouraged by school and society to achieve our maximum potential so why not with hair?
Thanks for sharing,
Kind regards,
Duncan
I agree Duncan. The hair cloak does have a couple of problems as I found out, like it prevents me from opening my mouth wide, or talk to people, so I say it is reserved for when you have to go outside in freezing temperatures. True, I had a couple of snags, with the trim for my cousin's wedding almost two years ago. Update, my cousin was only married for 11 months and their marriage did not work out.
Matthew
Update, my cousin was only married for 11 months and their marriage did not work out.
Well at least growing your hair worked out with a longer commitment then 11 months - yet another reason not to cut for someone's wedding day.
