At this time of year I frequently transport my bike out of town to get away from rain, cold and/or high winds. Bad weather greatly increases the risk of a crash and possible serious injury for me. At just 2 months shy of 57 years old I need to avoid these risks.
Today, I took my bike in my car to Novato (which is a mere 25 miles from home) and discovered this park there. I have ridden by this exact spot in the past and never noticed it until now. My sense of humour got the better of me and I just could not resist doing a couple of quick snapshots.
This may be a good place for a future longhair meet, at least that is an idea of mine. There are a few hiking trails there too.

Nice name for a park Scott.
If the climate is that bad I'd move away from it. I bit of rain, snow or fog never bothered me and I'm astmatic and we have such lovely countryside here I don't need to travel for miles to cycle that's for sure.
Cheers,

It would cost too much to move. It is cheaper to drive to a site with better weather conditions, do my ride, and come home.

It's the city of NoVA To(o), so I'm there. :)

It would definitely be a great place for a longhair meet. I have this vision of 4 or 5 long manes draped over that sign. It would look totally cool for a photo. Maybe this spring or summer.

I love it. We have got to visit. Where is this??

Here is the location. It is in California north of San Francisco. With magnification, you may be able to read the street names.

Hi Scott,
What a hoot to find a park with that name! Yes, it would definitely be a good future longhair meet-up location for some fun pics, except for one factor: public transportation up to Novato and other places in Marin County are more of a hassle for those of us that no longer own a car (I sold my truck in August of last year, and have been relying on BART and MUNI ever since)... Other than that, I like the idea, Scott!

Well I hear it's good Wine country in that part of the world...hick!
I didn't realise that the atmosphere was so polluted in the SFO area and let alone drive 50 miles for a bike ride but each to their own lol!
Have a good Christmas.
Cheers,
John.B
Yeah, just north of Novato is the Sonoma County line, where Korbel (sp?) and other famous wineries are. Napa Valley also isn't all that far away, either... you can hick-up all up and down that valley on winery tours for days!
It's not a pollution issue, it's a weather issue with Scott. Novato is a drier area than his hometown, because Novato is in the lee of the coastal mountain range, whereas other parts of the Bay Area get much more increased rainfall if on the wetter side of the mountains or get hit w/ the Pacific storms head-on because close to the coast.
Have a nice Christmas, John!
