Well recently i decided that i would finally grow my hair out like ive always wanted to. Seems like my conservative parents that refused to let me grow my hair out as a kid and me joining the Marines outta highschool put a bit of a delay in my plans. That aside i havent cut my hair in several months and have about 5 inches of growth now thankfully my hair seems to be thick and grows pretty fast. I seem to be in that phase where its to short to do anything with and to long to really do anythign with. Any advice on what to do with the hair in the meantime. For most of my life ive had super short hair and really at a loss as to what to do with it all =p so any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.
Side shot of what little hair i have so jealous of some of you guys hair.
Hey whats up? You're off to a great start, keep on growing! You could also take biotin and fish oil which are pretty beneficiary.
Not too long ago I was where you are now. Been on my journey right at 2 years myself. Just don't let the awkward stage discourage you. Hats can be a good way to hide bad days, but conditioner is the best thing to keep it in control. Have also found not shampooing as often as I did with shorter hair makes it more manageable. Before you know it, your hair will be shoulder length and beyond. Good luck to you.
Thanks for being so nice to a newbie guys ill make sure to keep updating my progress one i set my mind to something theres no stopping me and i want my hair the way i want it.
Hello, i see you have a good start, if you have not yet I would strongly recommend you read "On Being A Longhair" you should find a link to it in the links section of the hyperboard. I believe it has most of the information you could need.
Thanks for the heads up ill check it out.
great start there !!!
hey welcome buddy im not sure myself as im restarting and cant remember having short hair that well :P
but i think the best advice you can get,
is to let grow and dont go cutting because someone wants you to!.
i guess you could try brushing it back while it grows out a bit its seems to keep it tidy....er.
but most of all good luck and have fun with the jerney ahead of you hope you make a choice your happy with.

When I was in that awkward stage I used sport gel to slick it straight back. That kept it out of my eyes and looking somewhat professional until it was long enough to put in a ponytail.
The only thing I did around that length was...nothing. haha.
Other than brushing...which don't do. Just use a wide tooth comb to keep it tangle free! =)
I didn't start getting the edges trimmed until it reach my shoulders.
Some are against it but it is a good thing at keeps your hair healthier looking. but I've seen nice looking hair on people who didn't trim it. =)
Welcome to the hyperboard!
Even now I use a little gel to control the flyways and I think it's a great way to keep it under control during the awkward stage. You may also consider a bandanna, headband or hat.
Just judging from the pic, I think your hair will be "long" in no time. Maybe a year, year and a half. Surely not as long as your enlistment was, lol.
Good luck and keep us posted,
Paul
Well i guess im lucky my hair seems to grow quick this is what i have after about 2 months with no haircut. So yay. Cant wait till i can really start seeing some results.
