Christmas was an event of mixed emotions this year. The food, gifts, and general togetherness was great... BUT throughout the day I had to deal with several family members insisting that I get a haircut. By the end of the day, I made it very clear that it is my hair and I will do as I please with it. So I think (hope) that got them to shut up.
I plan to post a new pic sometime soon. Not much has really changed since November, but it has gotten a little longer
On a brighter note, one of the gifts I got was the card game "Killer Bunnies and the Quest For the Magic Carrot." I'd been admiring it for years, and it finally showed up in stores in my area. :P

My advice about the negative hair comments would be to just break out the egg nogg and all will be forgiven:)A pic certainly would be nice and what the heck is Killer Bunnies Questing for Magic Carrots???? Guess I'm not up on the new card games.

My dad is really conservative about a lot of things apparently, my 13 year old brother wanted to get a earring and he was very upset with the idea, I knew he was strictly against tattoos and piercings in places other than the earlobes but I never knew he had any problem with earrings. I am just thankful that he has absolutely no problem with me growing my hair long.
Good luck with your family, I hope that they respect your right to make your own decisions and just back off from the topic.
On another note, I got a cool leather jacket for Christmas which I intend to wear often. =]
I guess im lucky if my family gives me a hard time about growing my hair out i can just throw em out of my house till they quit givin me a hard time lol.
That usually the best response (but sometimes family members can be a bit thick). My response as a teen was similar, "You worry about your own hair and I'll worry about mine."
Killer Bunnies huh? Well I'm sold, I gonna look for this one.

I kind of had the same situation... maybe not to the same extent though. I started growing my hair about 4 months ago from a very short length. My hair is about 2 1/2" now. The issue is I swim every morning for about an hour and fifteen minutes... the chlorine is awful on the hair. My mom and sister on Christmas day told me several times that I need to dye my hair... I'm like no way that's going to happen! My hair use to be very dark brown, almost black. I do have a small amount of gray around the ears, but now the chlorine has really lightened up my hair, almost making it look it's highlighted. The color issue didn't seem to be an issue with the short hair, because I was cutting it almost every 3 weeks or so. Now my hair has much more exposure to the chlorine.
Anyways, the chlorine does enough damage... I won't dye it.
Peace all...

I'm not sure this is related, but your story reminded me of this. My sister-in-law got a perm when she was a teenager and then went swimming immediately afterward, against the advice of her stylist. She had green hair for months. :D
LOL I've always heard of chlorine turning hair green under certain cirmstances, but I've never seen it. That sounds hilarious.
Yeah, it is kind of hilarious. However, being I have very dark hair naturally it really doesn't look "green" like what happens to blonds. My looks more like premature grey or more so like it's highlighted.
Thanks for all the support guys. I'll be going back home for New Years Day. Here's to hope.
I bought two bandanas from Hobby Lobby tonight, black and teal. My hair has gotten to be annoying in the last week, so I'm hoping these will help. I would just use gel, but I think I'd have to use a good deal to make it look right, and I'd have to go back to washing my hair every day. Can't wait to get them washed and try them on!
