Hello.
I am 52 years old and starting to grow my hair long again after 30 some years of keeping it short. I was in a commune for five years during the 70s and had long hair for most of the 70s, but cut my hair when I entered back into the "real" world. I have never liked having short hair and look forward to growing my hair long again. For good! Great website for those of us going back to our roots - no pun intended. Look forward to posting a long hair picture in about a year.
Rob.
Hi Rob,
I'm only 4 years older than you, so I can definitely relate to a lot of what you said above. I have a fair amount of friends who had lived in communes during the '70s; but as far myself goes, I had to join the work force at age 18 in order to get out of my dad's house (who would not allow me or my brothers to even have hair touching the top of our ears!!!).... Although I definitely grew my hair out to a "long-ISH" length during the '70s and into the '80s, my first genuine ponytail-length didn't happen until my 40th birthday -- and I've been hooked on long hair ever since (other than a foolish impulsive short haircut in Y2K; but, that's another story - LOL)....
I enjoyed reading your statement, "I have never liked having short hair..." WOW, Amen to that!
Welcome to MLHH -- this is a great place to find longhair support, encouragement, and inspiration (as well as a fun place to show off pics of your ever-increasing mane - LOL)

Hi Rob
Glad you are now able to be once again what you wanted. As for the "real" world, I can't exactly say that I am all that thrilled with a whole lot of it.
Good luck growing out your hair.

Hi Rob,
Welcome to the hyperboard, and good for you for taking the plunge and growing your hair long once again. As an older guy myself (I am 56), I went through one short-haired episode from 2000 to 2004 or so, and realized that short hair was not for me. You can count in lots of support, and I hope you post photos before the one year mark.
Welcome aboard,
David
Just a quick follow-up to my original post. As you can see, I have a long way to go, but will get there with your support.
Thanks again.
Rob.
Congrats on deciding to regrow you hair after 30 years.
Look forward to seeing the result.
