Mark S drove over to see us today. I have to say, he is a pretty cool cat.
Here's me, him, my two oldest boys and my nephew (in that order, for those who don't know us) at my house down here in "Hillbilly Hell".
Seems like we have quite a bit in common; music, movies, views on religion, disdain for rednecks, etc. We only got one weird look the whole time we were out (some old fuddy duddy), and we had a awesome time.
Paul
What a great New Year's photo !!
That is a fine looking group of folks and the only one with short hair is the cat !!
Thanks for Sharing....
Walter
LOL, silly cats... At least one out of my 4 is a longhair -- the other 3 just haven't fully "seen the light", I guess!
- Ken
Hell yeah, got to start the year off right!
Paul
Hi Paul,
Thanks for sharing that with us and not a shorthair is site. I hope Mark enjoyed his trip over. Still at least your not in the single starred big state next door and all their funny school people!
Great to see another board meet up.
Cheers,
John.
PS...Mark you are looking well and they hairs coming along great.
Lol, Alabamy is not quite as bad as Texass.
Paul
hey Paul,
Considering your location of residing at PO Box 666,"Hillbilly Hell", USA, I'd say that your home at least looks like it got some shiny-haloed (& maybe even winged) longhaired visitors from that other place up Above (although I'm sure that most of you in that pic are not necessarily 100% "angels" - LOL)....
Hey, just remember this: the Devil sports a buzz-cut!! As the Blues Brothers said in that silly movie, "I'm on a Mission from God!" Keep on preachin' the Holy Gospel of Longhaired Freaky People, brother Paul! A very inspiring picture of y'all!
Hallelujah!!
- Ken (from the sinful city of San Francisco!)
I keep telling people that! LMAO
Paul
Hello Ken
The one "true" angel wasn't in the picture, she was taking it. lol
Angel....in hillbilly hell
I really enjoyed meeting Paul, Angel and his awesome family! Like Paul said we have a lot in common such as music, religion views, movie tastes, hobbys etc. And this old dude gave us a funny look, probably saying look at all those long haired guys together lol, but I gotta admit I do like getting looks for standing out and being a true long hair! :) Will meetup with Paul again in the near future!
You're welcome anytime my friend!
(In southern; Ya'll come on back now yer hear! Kick yer shoes off!)
Paul
That's awesome you guys could meet up. What a great looking group of longhairs!! I'm looking forward to hanging out with Mark when he moves up my way.
When he does we could all meet up. Me and Angel have been wanting to visit New England for a long time.
Paul
Well, if this is what is known as freaky longhaires, I would take them anytime to the "normals" of society. Glad you all had such a good time. Ever notice that many longhaires seem to accel in intelligence and knowing how to have a good time........not a "fake" good time?
Justin~
Yeah, I just don't "fit in"... and I'm glad, lol.
And Mark is a very intelligent young man.
Paul
So good ! :) Amazing heads of hair...
Paul, I like the shirt, by the way...
Vivien
It's one of my favorites. Thanks.
Paul
What a great photo Paul! You all look so great... sounds as thought you all had some fun. The one short hair in the photo, the cat, looks just like our male cat named "melon".
Peace,
Kenny
Thanks Kenny, he's one of three. His name is Friday and once a week he's "Friday on Friday". He's a laid back guy and his brother and sister are solid black. We got them two years ago right before Halloween. Fitting for them to be orange and black.
Paul
We have actually had them about 4 years. Friday is the sweet, laid back one. The other two, his brother and sister, are crazy.
Angel
Has it really been that long?
Paul
PS. You're a stinking varmint.
Yep, if you would come out of your troll cave every once in a while you would now these things. lol
Seeing this picture and talking to Mark, I want to meet up with one of you guys before too much time passes. However, my mom would try to prevent me from meeting you guys due to safety reasons.
Matthew
Hi Matthew, if you ever want to come down that would be fine.
Your mom is right of course, I never let any of my kids go off with anyone unless we meet their parents first.
Paul
I understand Paul, since your kids are still children (under 18). I, however, am 23 years (almost 24) old, and a legal adult. Besides Mark, I also want to meet you and your family eventually. There are lots to do in Seattle.
Matthew
I know your not a "whipper snapper" anymore lol, but that "parent" thing never ends. It don't matter how old they get, you still worry about them.
I'll bet there's more to do in Seattle than down here.
Paul
Yes, there are lots to do in Seattle. Here are some of the more popular examples:
-- Space Needle
-- Pacific Science Center
-- Pike Place Market
-- Benyrola Hall, McCaw Hall, 5th Ave theater
-- Ferry rides
-- Lots of fine dining choices
-- Just an hour of driving away, we have skiing, hiking, and campgrounds
-- Much more...
Matthew
We'd love to have you down Matt. I understand about your mom's concerns about safety (trust me, it's just a mom thing).
Paul's right, it never changes no matter how old the child is.
Hope to see you in the future. Our door is always open.
Angel
Thanks. Also, we live on opposite sides of the country, but find a good date to travel. There are lots to do in Seattle.
Matthew
it's really cool to see such a close community like this, very awesome
To quote the cowardly lion; "Ain't it the truth, ain't it the truth!"
Paul
Nice to see you guys together!
Keep 'em southern freak flags flyin y'alls!
- Oren
Lol! Damn straight!
Paul
Hi Paul,
How cool that you had the chance to meet up with Mark, and what a great picture of all of you, and outstanding manes too! Hopefully, we will see more parents like you encouraging their sons to grow their hair longer.
Take care, and keep it growing!
David
What's weird is to see a long-haired dad with short-haired sons. I've run across a number of them down here.
Paul
Hey Paul, that's cool that Mark S. was able to stop by to meet up with you.I didn't realize he was within a reasonable driving distance.Longhair meet ups are very cool as I've been to several myself and its fun seeing the longhair live in person:)I take it this was your first official mlhh board meet.Anyway thanks for posting your pic and I wish you all down south there a Happy New Year!Cheers
Mark
Yep, this was a first for him and us. He lives about 4 hours away.
Happy New Year Mark!
Paul
Great meet up and either your house is small or you all are very tall.
Strangely it seems when John and I were doing our drive around we encountered more rednecks up north than down south. I suppose this is Dixie's revenge for loosing the civil war. Send all the crap to live up there.
Regrettably John and I weren't able to get to Alabama as time was so short but I hope to visit friends in Mobile this year and when I do I'll be sure darken your doorstep.
Take care
Kevin
well im 6ft tall but wouldnt say im tall just above average lol when you do visit Alabama ill come over too since im in Mississippi!
Sounds like a plan!
Paul
Hey Kevin. Mark is a bit tall but our house is a mobile home so it's a combination.
Unfortunately we were not able to send all the crap up north. A lot of 'em just wouldn't go. lol.
My nephew (in-law) is from upstate New York and says there are more rednecks up there than here. (He's growing out his hair btw.)
Hell, if you're ever down this way, by all means, drop by.
Paul
Haha! I don't think you can blame the south for producing rednecks as they crop up everywhere on their own. Those midwestern rednecks with that twangy accent are natives.
-----------------------------------------------
Wow, Paul, it is really cool that you got to meet Mark S. Hope you guys had a great time.
Scott
We had a great time.
We went to Outback but being the 1st there wasn't much else to do so we mainly sit at the house and talked about rednecks, Hair Nazis and how we're going to take over the world. Hehe.
Paul
A very cool picture of all you guys. I think it' great that your providing a good hair-role model for your boys. That's good parenting!
Ah, redneck hell! Got to love it, right? That's good that you guys got to meet up. And remember, if you ever get over towards the east end of redneck hell (Georgia), come see me.
MB
Hey Matt.
You wouldn't believe some of the crazy parents around here, well, maybe you would.
The next time we go to Medieval Times in Atlanta I'll send you an e-mail and maybe you can meet us there. A little spot of light in redneck hell! Lol
Paul
We would love to meet you. What part of GA do you live in?
~Angel
I live near Albany, GA in the southwest part of the state.
