So this will probably be my last normal hair update before I get dreaded :D I'll post updates of that later on.
The best part is that if I decide I don't want dreads anymore, I can go back to having normal long hair, it may just be a bit damaged.
Anyway, wish me luck
I think it will be more than a bit(the damage) if you want to take them off. Then again if you have dreads all the hair that would fall off on a non_dread_hair_head, will stick there, so that's a huge bonus!
Yes that is a definite bonus the way I see it and one of the reasons I've made the decision.
Why? You look great have great hair... and your white. Leave your hair alone... you'll be sorry
Well here are a few things I've taken into consideration:
1. I'm still young and prone to want to try new things
2. It would not be a permanent (ie irreversible) decision, and if I had to cut a bit of hair off if I decided to come back, that's alright with me because (1.) I'm still young and have a lot of time for hair growth ahead
3. Sort of an expansion on (2.) and that is - where I live, long hair is largely accepted by the adult working community. This means that in the event I lose some hair during this experience then I would have no trouble in growing it back as I come into adulthood.
I hope you can understand that a lot of thought has gone into my decision-making process, that is several months' worthl it's not just a random idea.
"... and your white."
Well here in New Zealand I see very few people other than white people with dreads. But i understand where you're coming from and why you would consider that a limitation to me.
Cheers
I agree, leave it alone. It looks great!
Thanks, but I've been feeling it's time for a change.
Don't remember seeing you here before but that doesn't mean you weren't.I think your hair, as it stands now, looks fantastic with so much potential for even more length.Personally I like your hair as it is and would seriously rethink the dreading of it.Nothing wrong with dreads but it is a big commitment.Anyway good luck should you go through with it Charlie.Cheers

Well first of all thanks for the comments on my hair.
But this is something that has gone through the long (several month) process of thinking, rethinking, and a bit more thinking, and I've finally come to the point where it's my decision to do this. I have a lot of life ahead of me to experiment, or else just grow nice long hair :)
"Don't remember seeing you here before but that doesn't mean you weren't."
I'm not surprised, I've only posted one thread before and a few replies. But I lurk a lot :P

Hi Charlie,
That's cool that you thought the dreading of your hair through for
awhile.I'm certain you will look fantastic and I'll look forward to you pic
when you choose to post it:)Regardless you look awesome with your hair
long in any form my friend:)Please keep us posted OK.Cheers
Mark
Thanks, I'm basically satisfied as long as I can see my hair moving freely from my body!
Good luck.
I'm working on dreads too. I was going to have my hair sectioned and backcombed, but ultimately decided to let dreads form naturally. Im a week into no brushing right now.
I have almost the same hair as you, so It's going to take longer than anyone with curly hair, but it'll still dread.
once again, good luck
Jarvis
Hope the natural method gives you results you're happy with. I'll be backcombing but without using any products.
Good luck and happy dreading :)
Are any of us ever normal haha? Wish you luck with it man, keep us posted.
